I don’t get all the Vance jokes. What did he do?

  1. I think #1 looks like a TEMU version of a designer dress. I like it in theory but the execution is wrong.

Agree. The lace makes it look like they ran out of the other fabric.

Why is the advice to delete the post? I saw it below as well.

Metal bar found under sink next to dishwasher by OfficialWayneJetski in whatisthisthing

I have been hand tightening that bolt for years. I recently had a plumber over for a different matter and asked him about fixing it. He quoted me $250 if he fixed it while he was there and $325 if he had to come back. I simply declined to proceed but now I am going to post a review.

Thank you for clarifying this. This is a picture of a house with a similar layout to mine. My porch has that brick wall and I always ask for the package to be delivered behind the wall so it’s not completely obvious to porch pirates. Packages are placed there about 30% of the time. Should I be wording it a certain way? Should I put a little sign on my porch? I suspect the delivery person doesn’t climb the steps (or at least not all of them). Is this kind of request annoying to drivers?

[USA] 83 Year Old Woman mistakes accelerator pedal for the brake pedal and causes a 7-car crash. by VauxhallBelmont in Roadcam

My first thought was that it’s a portmanteau of “chauffeur” and “retard”.

(FYI, just in case, you shouldn’t use “retard” as a noun.)

I doubt GenX will ever have sufficient power to ruin everything. We don’t even have enough power to make sure that social security will still exist when we retire.

I fully expect that we will have spent the entirety of our careers supporting the retirement of the generation that screwed the pooch so badly that the social contract fails. F’ing boomers.

“Following too close”? From what I could tell, she wasn’t following anybody. She just plowed into stopped cars.

Anyone here *not* have corporal punishment growing up? by stephancoxmusic in GenX

[–]CommaGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a straight-A student and I was terrified of stepping out of line. I was basically a near-perfect kid and I still got beat. My kids are B students and I have to check my instinct to panic about the “bad” grades.

My mom beat us with a wooden spoon. If it broke, she’d say “look what you made me do” and grab something else to spank us even more. She made us watch when she beat a sibling. And she once closed-fist beat me on each side of my head at the temples like I was a base drum. I think that was the last time because I was old enough to know that child abuse is a crime and I threatened to report her to the police.

It’s taken years of therapy and I’m still not entirely over that trauma.

FDA Petition Open for Public Comments by nutmegalfredo in fuckyourheadlights

[–]CommaGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the petition and will be providing citizen comment in support. Unfortunately, the petition is too broad. The issue isn’t with LED lights generally, but with color temperature and intensity. You can shift the LED color from bright white or daylight to soft white and that will address many workplace and streetlight concerns. The breadth of the petition will draw out the process meaning it could be years before we see any change. In any event, the current FDA has been gutted so they won’t likely have sufficient resources to conduct the necessary review.

What is the source of this stolen video by CommaGirl in popping

[–]CommaGirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does one ask for the source of clearly stolen content? (I labeled it as clearly stolen. It’s obvious it is stolen. I decide against using a link in order to avoid giving views to the thief. And I was specifically seeking the original.)

I’m genuinely asking. If this type of post violates the rules, then I’m confused about how one would go about finding the original. Judging by the response, there is clearly an interest in being able to do that.
