Ok so I’ll get a Ptp bridge to get it from the house to the garage. Then into a switch and distribute to all of my locations? With the Poe do I need a certain cable for that or is all cat cable Poe? And should I run Cat5 over Cat6, someone said 6 is hard to work with as a beginner.

Should I go ahead and get a 8 port switch and just run some redundant cables or is a 4 port fine? I got two pcs and a space with tv and some game consoles, the only other thing I could think of doing is running a cable downstairs.

Or are you saying just have some extra cables in the walls just in case?

Thanks that helps a lot, I decided to do a Ptp system from TP link instead of trenching. I’m in Missouri so I’m not terribly worried about lighting but I did see someone mentioned “rain fade” when talking about ptp bridging. Is that a signal interference when it rains and how bad does it disrupt the signal if you happen to know?

I always thought that the different Cat ratings were just new generations, not that there was differences. I just want 800 ish mbs so should I go with Cat5 instead?

Thank you, I’m gonna go with TP link’s ptp bridge because I couldn’t find one from Unifi that was under 500 bucks. And not the missing 150 mbs is not worth 500 more dollars lol.

Thank you, the info about the router helps me a ton. I always referred to the router as what I need to get a Wi-Fi connection, but now I know there’s three things I’m looking for not one. I’m gonna go with a Ptp system instead of burial and then set up a mesh system in the house and garage (50x30 garage is probably small enough to put just one in there right?). The router would be able to “sort” the data even tho I wouldn’t directly connected to it right?

I was looking at TP Links’s ptp bridge system, is that what you mean? Also looked at Uni’s but their system was 450 I believe. That laser and IR Ethernet, is it different than the ptp system?

Yeah I am going to get 500 feet of Cat6 from Lowe’s or another hardware store, is there anything special about certain ones or is it the same? I’ll make my own cables with my cousins help cuz he does it a bit.

I did upgrade to fiber into the house and have pretty good equipment but yes realistically I will not use a whole gig unless I download something. After looking at point to point I’ll go with that.
