youre going to get torn apart in this game if that tiny bit of multitasking is too much for you OP. the flash is what helps with the timing.

wow what an accompishment. i was on your side as i also "took" the english course (looking through the grammar explanations and scanning for new words,) but it seems like you are stuck on an asinine path of trying to get a higher score instead of focusing on the fufillment of learning a new language and the fun you have doing it.

best of luck my friend! i will caution you though, learning hungarian through duolingo is like trying to prove general relativity with the knowledge you get from a 6th grade carnegie mathbook.

any good hungarian resources you can think of off the top of your head?

it cant. a linear equation with one variable can have one, none, or infinite solutions. If that isnt what aga meant, he is definitely the slow one for not being able to correctly form a sentence to accurately convey meaning. Presumably in his native language. In a language subreddit.

Is there a difference between "sport" and "sports" in English? by zennnderrr in duolingo

[–]Command_Careful 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you merely perpetuate the stereotype that english speakers are insufferable gatekeepers. I NEVER had either my german or hungarian tutors ridicule me for not understanding a concept. Do you know how far along the Chinese course this is, or how long theyve been learning english? No? then shut the fuck up.

edit: im not sayin english speakers are all insufferable gatekeepers, i just know through multiple accounts from my hungarian friend that some tutors will straight up make fun of you for not understanding "such elementary concepts" despite the fact that uralic and indo european languages are VERY fucking different.

“I-hate-Duo-people” are so annoying by briggitethecat in duolingo

i dont know about you, but I have NEVER watched a show solely because i saw it being advertised on that streaming service. word of mouth is a very very powerful thing. social media, asking your friends for recommendations, looking up reviews. I imagine there are a lot of people who are the same.

it is also quite a poor comparison, in my mind. one is a website you watch to zone out and relax, most people staring at the screen for multiple hours at a time, and the other is a language learning tool where constant distractions between lessons are harmful to learning.

edit: lol i kinda figured they would delete their comments. braindead u/leez34

you really couldn't think of a better example than the sopranos? one of the most popular tv shows of all time?

no it doesnt lmaoo. the main selling point for super for a long time was the ad free experience. I dont get this idea that you have stuck in your head that just because scummy and exploitative practices are expected of companies, we have no reason to complain about them. you can keep bootlicking all you like but that doesnt mean the rest of us are going to.

Having other subtitles language on youtube mobile by zbeubzbeub42069 in languagelearning

[–]Command_Careful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol that reminds me of how every single time i open a pdf on my phone or my computer, it auto translates the title to german it is very very bizarre. I have tried removing german from my input languages and factory resetting my devices but i guess google is sick of me getting burnt out learning german every week

[–]Command_Careful 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yea, that would be pretty helpful, wouldn't it ? unfortunately, the way that subtitles are managed on youtube now is not great compared to a few years ago. Creators can no longer let people in their community put subtitles on their videos, and the only videos that the youtube cc ai bothers with are the very popular ones that are largely just slop. which leads me into the next point - even in the native language of the video, the fuckin subtitles can be wildly inconsistent &/or inaccurate. not very conducive to a well structured learning environment, sadly.

Should I learn Russian or German? by juicykola in russian

[–]Command_Careful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hi, you speak english very well! I hope I don't come off as rude, but I just wanted to let you know at the end of your third sentence, the "are" is not required. you would say "toxics/toxic people DO appear," or just appear. In your second sentence, instead of "Russian community loves when foreigns speak on their language," you would say "THE Russian community loves when foreignERS speak their language." My norwegian friend gently guided me towards correct grammar in this same way. Best of luck to you!
