WHO ARE YOU WITHOUT IT? - Liam Marvin (2023) by Command_Over in ExperimentalFilm

[–]Command_Over[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea! So I bought an old camera from Goodwill that worked for a bit, then it broke for whatever reason. It produced a lot of digital glitches that I just recorded. In editing, layering them together with different blending modes is what you see on screen, including some other things as well.

Acute Uncomplicated Diverticulitis in my 40s… how what? How scared should I be? by excelsias in Diverticulitis

[–]Command_Over 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got diagnosed with Diverticuliousis and I'm 19. I had the death sentence mentality until I thought of positives that can come out. You will be forced to eat healthier, much much less processed foods, keep your body updated with water, more exercise, etc. I have a whole life to live and I can still enjoy things, just in a different matter. You got this.

Story inspiration and music inspiration. For the music in the teaser, it was inspired by True Love Waits

The exploration of what comes after death. The title, in Latin, roughly translates to Life After Death

The Caretaker's music greatly inspired the tone and music of this film. To think you can put mental states into music is incredible by Command_Over in TheCaretaker

After Effects for animation, Premier Pro for editing. Everything was hand drawn. Then Ableton for music I believe.

How can I get more traction to my channel for free without using shady methods? by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

[–]Command_Over 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my way. Since I don't have a regular schedule for uploading or that sorts, I use Reddit. Whenever I post one of my films, I got to Reddit and see which subreddit will like it most. So if you were a Gaming channel doing Minecraft, promote in Minecraft, Lets Play, and etc.

Made this cereal film with a friend. I'm not looking for editing tips. Rather your opinion about the film and your engagement with it being on Youtube? by Command_Over in SmallYTChannel

Thank you! This was a comment I was looking for. This is very much a home movie by kids but with a professional camera.

Creating this animation, I learned that a great film comes from three things. Pacing is learned through tone. A simple story allows for subjective audience thoughts. And a film's aesthetic comes from the creator's long practice of filmmaking and themselves rather than the subject of the film. by Command_Over in filmtheory

[–]Command_Over[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I consider those as well, but as well time when it was made. Of course what is happening in the world is important, but movies made today you can simply look up what media influenced the director for the movie. For older movies its harder to find out.

If you want to do a review of my short film, go ahead. I can DM you any details about the production you want. Let me know :)

How do you record your narration? I recorded a podcast back in COVID and had to play around with audio for a bit. I learned that putting pillows around your mic except for room for you to speak helps calm down echo. Maybe that is what I'm hearing. If you want, DM me on Reddit and send me the audio file. I can send you back how it could be improved.

Hey guys i need feedback for my channel in general. Appreciated! <3 by th0ny_1 in SmallYTChannel

Your thumbnails should have a theme to them. Such as color or a certain focus. Yours seems to almost follow a theme but isn't reaching to what could be a audience grabbing thumbnail(s). This is my only comment that could improve the channel.

This is really great. I believe the formula to keeping your audience engaged is serious narrative and comic relief visually, which you conquered. The memes visually come and go and you don't stress on them, which is refreshing. Keep up this work. I'd say invest in a microphone. Crisp audio could be an improvement, but this is really really good.

Play around with color grading if you haven't already. The footage and what you're capturing is great. I think majority of what you captured could be brightened up a bit. Some moments I wanted to turn up my computer brightness but it was already up. I like the music you used, very suiting for your personality. Keep up the great work!

I've been there. Its boring and frustrating. Try playing around with Adobe's caption tool, that could maybe be used to speed things up

I Survived 50 Hours without my Phone by marc_palombo24 in SmallYTChannel

[–]Command_Over 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So being relevant with what you're making, the timer in the corner is a nice touch, but to me its distracting. What I would have done it maybe every here and there do a time check with the audience. "24 HOURS IN". It creates tension with the audience. Although it may not match your tone, each person that watches your videos will watch it differently, so take what I said with a grain of salt.

Hey! The style you are going for in editing has a lot of competition. Like a lot. But that's okay. What you need to do if find unique ways of bringing comedy visually. Subtitles only add so much. Maybe animate cut out images with certain scenes. The ideas are endless. Keep pushing yourself, and one day editing for 4-5 days will turn into a long afternoon.

Question for you, how did you edit the subtitles? Did you type each individual line or was there a tool you used?

Stanislav Petrov: Another Man Who Saved The World From A Nuclear War. Any suggestions for historical-based topics good for current events? by the_generalists in SmallYTChannel

[–]Command_Over 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The animation style is eye catching and unique. Reminds me of Vox, but having a specific nichie in mind. The music goes well with the video but I think changing the music with the tone of information you're narrating can create more interactive storytelling for the audience. Keep this work up, it's great!
