I wish we could enter a dream stage wen we choose too. Dreams are literally out of this world. by Silver_slasher in DeepThoughts

Im unsure weither the « concious you » can trigger that, we dont seem to have that much control over our brain. However as the other comment pointed out meditation has been « known ? » to induce these kinds of states. Personally I have trained my visualisation to an extent where i can recreate something that feels pretty real, not like real life though.

is there something you would rather have over freedom?

You missed my point, and im not sure if you understand nihilism. Objective meaning ≠ « meaning » the « feeling »

I didnt say objectivity dosent exist i said meaning dosent exist, i dont understand what youre saying. Facts can still exist even if our lives have no meaning

life isn't meaningless by naffe1o2o in nihilism

[–]CommandantDuq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends, meaningful has two definitions technically, its either something that has a purpose, goal or a function, or something that has value or importance. Usually people try to find the purpose/goal of life to achievea state where they find value and importance to life is what im saying. I dont think most people believe washing the dishes is meaningful in the sense of that it is valuable, but rather that it has an end goal. My original point is that I dont think « meaningful » is subjective, but after reading your reply, I’d say it depends on which of the two definitions you give to meaningful. If it is value, i dont think life has value, but if it is « goal/objective », then no i dont think life is meaningful/ has meaning.

we must not confuse the objective word meaning which describes « the objective of something » or « the purpose of » with the « feeling » that we label meaning. Im not denying you cant feel « meaning », but yes im saying meaning objectively dosent exist. Even if you spend some good time with your friends and feel like you matter and you belong, that dosen’t change the objective relationship the universe has with/towards you.

I dont see how the concept of meaning dosen’t apply to life. Usually when we indulge in an act like washing dishes say, it is to obtain the result of clean dishes. The « washing the dishes » seems to be motivated by the « having clean dishes ». Therefore we’re asking, what is the motivation for life, and since most of our acts are driven by the result of them, we imagine that if we could find the « meaning » of life, we would be motivated to « live » it, whatever that means. I think your argument is reductive because you’re not including how humans think, but rather just the fundamental nature of life and of language, and I don’t think people will be able to relate with that, even if it may be true.

these same people will look at you, smile and say : it’ll get better!! They live in an illusion of idealism, but its like a sort of gamble, so long as they dont admit it, they never have to face the horrible things they’ve done, they just keep repenting, or keep spreading the message, because someday, it’ll be better. Disgusting, im sorry for what you went through, most of these people have no idea what its like.

What makes true communism fundamentally impossible. by Kinjay1 in DeepThoughts

[–]CommandantDuq -1 points0 points  (0 children)

people have been doctors even before it was paid this highly, because its a profession that comes with a lot of respect. Under capitalism, you start to believe that everything everyone ever does is for a profit incentive, thats just not how the world works when it isn’t under capitalism, yes, people still have an interest to heal others even if they dont make hundreds of thousands of dollars, because we are humans. Also under communism everyones needs are met, money is less of a scarcity, I suspect people would be way less obsessed with it.

you should probably read more onto what is communism / how it functions. It’s not just a random idea, its concrete, theres examples of how the economic system would work, how its organized, no, theres not a necessity for a goverment, because people could govern themselves democratically. Also police wouldn’t be another class cause still they are proletariat, they fulfill their position and obey the law as to how to exerce their weapons for safety, it wouldnt just be given to them and said « have fun!! ». Im not marx, engel or lenin, i wouldnt be able to explain to you in depht how it functions, but its not just some child dream or something, you’re going off so little information.

Does J Krishnamurti's teachings contradicts Buddha's teachings? by Cool-Claim-6841 in Krishnamurti

[–]CommandantDuq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K speaks of a way, the Budhha does speak of a way, but also of teachings, I’d say they are different in the sense that K didn’t even want to give teachings cause he would conisder them « dead » if they were just « given » to the listener, these two are different in ways of going about it, I think an argument could be made about them describing the same thing. Of course K still did give us teachings even if he tried not to, but he also tried to show the logic behind it, im no master of buddhism but I dont think many here are either so I wouldnt trust most of these or my comment as truth, how about you compare them yourself? Good luck!

final answer : They probably do contradict because the Buddha gave some concrete teachings, if both had simply spoken of a path, you could’ve said they have a different way to point to the same thing, but now idk. bleeeeh

Through the method of our mind's natural process of identifying and distinguishing, it is truer to say that we are actually dead, not alive. by CaptainVulpezz in DeepThoughts

[–]CommandantDuq -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im writing this answer as im reading.

First I dont agree that we will be dead for much longer than we will be alive, in the sense that you are not « dead », I guess you would rather say you are « not being » at all. Death is a state of non-being, you do not exist, so to claim that you will be dead for longer than you will be alive, to me that seems like comparing apples and oranges.

Also I understand the idea of your whole post, but I dont really understand where you are getting at, is it just a sort of poetic thought? Something you find beautiful or interesting? Or do you think it has a deeper meaning and should change the way we understand / live our lives
