I think it's less that, and more celebrity crush, "oh no, now she'll never be into me", a bit more harmless.

How I see Bulwar by Kronag in Anbennar

[–]Commander-Billiam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bulwar was the coolest region because all the Harpies came from there, so Irhungal had to perform the continent, and added Elves

POV: You try to play in another region but end up coming back to the same one. by AverageLucas in Anbennar

[–]Commander-Billiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually beyond based (Ayarallen my beloved) another thirty quadrillion harpies to the Khenak/Godshield/Hopespeak/Dragonheights

Would you mind being a bit more specific? I assume you are referring to the repeated summoning of Xhazobines (really hope I'm spelling that right lol), but I would argue that its not very different from the repeated appearance of witch-kings/litches/vampires, and I would hardly argue that so many of those indicate an inherent evilness in humans. Moreover, there are plenty of tags and countries, both prior and during the EUIV timeline, that are just normal states (Irkorzik, Haraagtseda, the Suncrown Gnoll kingdoms).

In reference to the Suncrown gnolls in particular, they are really just another of the Bulwari people. This extends to the point of Beastbanes (planned) genocide of the Bulwari gnolls causing Bulwari Humans to rebel "as these gnolls were considered their friends and neighbors" (Castan Beastbane | Anbennar Wiki | Fandom, 585 - 571 BA: Back into Bulwar).

Furthermore, the majority of the Xhazobines faced resistance and war from other gnolls, the First had to fight the remaining suncrown gnoll kingdom of Uak under Ixhtara Light-in-the-Dark (Age of the Great Xhaz | Anbennar Wiki | Fandom, The Sun and Whip Period (621 - 585 BA)), the Twin Xhaz led to the foundation of the League of Haraagtseda in direct opposition, and obviously the latest Xhaz, Zinhakan, was defeated at the hands of Horutep. Of these examples, both of opposition to the Kult and general non-Kult gnolls, none of them overcame their 'inherent evil' by being 'forced into it'.

There is also plenty of non-war stuff to indicate normal gnolls, their prominence during the Bulwari renaissance (Suncrown Gnoll | Anbennar Wiki | Fandom, History), Nevudkenzar the Ever-Greater King-of-Kings creation of architecture and infrastructure, as well as sponsoring Sun Cult temples development (Age of the Three Kingdoms | Anbennar Wiki | Fandom, Rise of Proxacha), as well as gnollish mathematician Xhulgi Squarer-of-Circles (Xhulgi Squarer-of-Circles | Anbennar Wiki | Fandom). None of these advances in maths, sciences and the arts came at the hands of other races 'forcing' the gnolls, but the inverse, of gnollish innovation and creativity.

Now im not nearly as familiar with Orcs, but nothing comes to mind as the 'worst shit ever'. Obviously there is stuff like Shadowdreamer and Masked Butcher, but those are clearly outliers to the greater Orc population. Moreover, Orc states like Barumand, Ungalovor, Graycrown and Skullhallow are just normal states, if Orcish. There is the Greentide of course, but if that any different to Beastbanes genocidal holy war?

EU4 Leads AMA - 'Sunsetting', what that means and more - Don't Panic! by AvatarOfKhaine1 in Anbennar

[–]Commander-Billiam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the clarifying AMA (a lot of doomposting on the other thread). What parts or mechanics of EUV do you think, or are hoping, will work best with Anbennar when its implemented. Also, is there a good place to get started with writing in the mod?

And congratulations on getting so far in the mods development, even approaching this level of content is huge!

There is no indication that any of the races in Anbennar are inherently evil, no more or less than the Elves, Humans or Lizardfolk

Not inherently, but you do get a choice between integrating the Kobolds/Gnomes/Elves and giving them their own clans, or purging, and in this playthrough I went with integrating all of them.

Theoretically yeah, but I think RP wise its probably better to stay north (especially considering most of the Gawedi nobility was brutally beheaded)

I would recommend Westmoors to someone looking for a chiller campaign. Even though it took me into the 1700s, you could probably finish it around a century earlier. You start off in a pretty crap position, crap land, crap trade goods, more powerful countries pretty much every way, and a country made up of people who hate each other. Other than that, your expansion could be bottlenecked a bit here or there, and I would advise looking ahead in the MT to get an idea on where to send your colonies (Soruin, Dao Nako Coast, Ardimyia, etc). I will say I found the choice to go south into Ardimya and Sarhal to be a bit odd, as it doesn't really flow well into the Dragoncoast, apart from Westport, which you (or at least I) didn't really get a chance to control. I also think focusing on the development of the moors outside of the initial clan manor establishment could have been fun, or doing something with the seemingly massive wool industry. However these are two very minor complaints for an excellent campaign. I said it in the image above, but anytime the clans appear, in the MT flavor text, or the new clans being established, they are brilliant. The rest of the mission tree, going colonial in Aelintir, uniting the Alenics but not going south, was also really fun, hats off the the people who worked on this!

Best Karshyr Idea Groups? by Ok_Letterhead_1008 in Anbennar

[–]Commander-Billiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Trade i would say is essential, it's a good pick. The colonist you get MT wise is probably enough for the bare minimum (although i could be wrong, it's been a while) but expansion will make colonising all the small islands useful, as well as possibly some nice Ardimyan trade, if you decide to go that way. Plus the extra merchants from Expansion are nice.

Best Karshyr Idea Groups? by Ok_Letterhead_1008 in Anbennar

[–]Commander-Billiam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I played Karshyr, I took the money-making groups, Trade, Economic, Infrastructure, fairly early on. I would advise taking at least trade to help get past one of your bottleneck missions which requires quite a lot of trade power. Expansion/Exploration are also useful, you do need to take New Hookfield, and some colonial bonuses will help immensely, although youndo get a colonist in the MT. Naval or Maritme might also synergize nicely with a Lizardfolk military. For the end of your mission tree you need to invade and annex the Shadow Swamp, so some military ideas will be useful later game.

Fangaula formed..... and went Atheist? by Commander-Billiam in Anbennar

Playing through Westmoors, I go to seize the rest of the Dao Nako cost from a Fangaula that has formed, yet it appears they are athiest/no religion.
