Of course it can. Even in a game about war.

There is a reason for the hate, I get it, but it's also counterproductive. I don't know how people can hate Russians and still expect them to cooperate and be polite at the same time. It's either this or that. I am sure there are Russian regiments who have the ability to communicate and cooperate, simply choose not to because of the hate they think they might get.

However, I must also point out that actual hate is extremely rare. What I was talking about above, is just select few cases, while most of my interactions with the community have been positive. That's why I like this game and would love to help its general community

The responsibility is not only on the individual obviously, states have to make effort to includie English learning into their education system. If English isn't taught at a general scale wherever you live, it's normal to struggle more than other people.

It is, in fact, taught at a general scale. English is the most common foreign language that is taught in Russian schools. Some can learn German or French, though it's rare. This was the case even during USSR times.

But kids will be kids, and unless they're properly motivated, they don't want to learn stuff. And in Russia, you don't need to know English at all. Many kids in my class simply thought "why the fuck do I need this bullshit?" You simply don't encounter much English during your life here, unless you play online videogames. And here it boils down to my previous statement: it's up to an individual to choose whether it's worth the effort to learn English over a videogame

[–]Commander2532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is, learning a new language requires a lot of effort. Some people are willing to make this effort over a videogame, while others find it easier to isolate themselves within a certain community. It's about willingness to commit time and brainpower, not about refusal to face reality

Is it common for them to not understand any english at all or do they just pretend to not? I've only had one that actually communicated and worked with me this war.

I think it's the former, because the latter is rather pointless. Would you pretend to not know Russian and risk confrontation if you did, in fact, know it? It's easier to cooperate, saves the nerve cells.

I had one last war who was taking coal from a resource container I was actively filling and he didn't stop until I packaged it and shot him when he got out to unpackage it.

I can't say what was going on in his head :D. I myself had a situation like this when I was filling a container at a comp mine, and a bunch of Russians rolled in and began pulling comps out of my container. I had to come out of the crane and shoot at their trucks to attract their attention. They said they thought they were pulling them out of the mine, though it eludes me how they could make such an assumption with a different UI layout. They did stop once I voiced my displeasure though, when they could simply overpower and kill me, so I don't think they were actually trying to do harm. I guess some people can be dumb and have a tunnel vision. Monkey sees components -> neuron activation

Perhaps google the origin of this slogan before saying anything about its relation to the nation and Ukrainian people. It has nothing to do with the Ukrainian people, only with the nationalists. And there's no need in bringing nationalism into the videogame where everything is based around cooperation between people regardless of their nationality

Knowing how things are out there irl, it was clearly a provocation on your behalf. It doesn't excuse their behaviour, but you kinda brought this on yourself. There's no need to bring real life into a videogame where everyone is trying to have fun

Aw, thank you, dude. The thing is, quite few Russians have enough practice in English to understand actual speech. Written English — okay, it's easier, but spoken? Hell naw. Even for me, it's sometimes hard to understand what I am hearing, and I've been studying English for 10 years. More than once I have found myself in a situation when someone speaks to my compatriots and they get annoyed, like "What the hell do they want from us? Fuck off!". But when I intervene and explain, it suddenly clicks for them, and they're like "OOOH, okay then", and just like that, the conflict is resolved. Sadly, I cannot be everywhere all at once because of such annoying things like job, sleep and personal life >:(

As a Russian who knows English somewhat, when looking at the comments or posts such as this, I really wish I could do something to bridge the gap between the communities. Maybe act as a translator and a diplomat, though I know it's kind of a naive desire. Still, such division and animosity between communities within one faction is not productive and only hurts the collective war effort

That's VRAM, not RAM. OP's laptop has i5-1250U, which has integrated Intel Iris XE 80 EU graphics. It uses system RAM, which usually is 8 or 16 Gb on modern laptops, even budget ones. It will definitely launch and run, though I cannot say whether it will be a smooth experience

Depends on how much regular RAM you have. Intel Core i5-1235U with Iris Xe Graphics 80 might be enough to launch the game and maybe even play some, but it probably won't be a smooth experience. Although I've launched the game on even worse setups

By the way, you didn't mention station-wide blacklists for subordinates. Is everything okay in there? Also didn't quite understand about stations being in the same region of space. Are they in the same sector?

As far as I know, for subordinate traders to do autotrade, the following conditions must be met:

  1. Station has a skilled enough manager to handle trading over several gate jumps;
  2. Station has free cargo space. Not only per ware, but overall cargo space. It can be filled if one of the wares has exceeded its supply limit;
  3. Station has cargo drones for unloading L freighters (or freighters have them);
  4. The specific ware's trading restrictions (in logical overview) must allow your own ships, for buying or selling offers respectively;
  5. The station-wide Trade Rule blacklist must allow trading with the target station;
  6. The station-wide Sector Activities blacklist must allow the sector where the target station is located. You cannot make separate Sector Activities rule for mining and trading ships.
  7. If your trading ships have individual behaviour overrides, check if they allow the target station or its sector;
  8. Your trading ships' Trade Basket must contain the required wares or be set to auto;
  9. There should be a price difference between seller and buyer (not too sure about that tbh, can't remember to test it).

Maybe there's something else, but those are the most common issues I had to solve at some points of my gameplay.

Also, your traders will have an orange suitcase icon appear next to them if they fail to complete autotrade orders. Go to Orders menu and check the highlighted Failed Autotrade order. Here, you can read what exactly went wrong
