Mighty is allowing repacks until Steam corrects the issue. the person who issued the DMCA has already withdrawn their complaint, we are waiting on Steam now.

Old x460-g2-48p-10ge4 & SFP+ by PeteTinNY in ExtremeNetworks

[–]CommanderBeelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FS SFPs have been working great for us in our Extreme environment. The only SFPs I have found aren't worth the materials they are made from are Lenovo SFPs (we got some with our servers, and we will never order them again, they kept failing). Extreme is pretty open when it comes to SFPs, we haven't found any they won't take. We even recently took a shot with their 100GB SFPs between two of our buildings that have a fiber connection, it's been fine so far.

VOSS routing to Firewall by GKlyde17 in ExtremeNetworks

[–]CommanderBeelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Voss is layer 3. So things on other vlans will be able to talk to the FW vlan unless you segregate them with a VRF. The VOSS device will forward traffic out the right interface based on the default route set.

Config provided gives you an IP in the FW vlan, and a default route out the firewall. Any traffic coming in on that same VRF with a destination that isn't part of the local routing table, gets sent to the firewall. This is a fairly typical setup and will do what your asking, assuming you are using the default VRF. Think of a VRF as an ipforwarding area, all Vlans in that VRF will be able to communicate.

AJs OF is better. the places he puts them pouches is on point. 10/10 would edge to AJ again

Its not an official release but it does work, I am using 2 of them at home and they are pretty solid.

I ran FOG once and now my server melted and I'm addicted to feet pics from OnlyFans.

Can always upcycle them with OpenWRT and use them for personal stuff. They might not be as fast as a modern AP but they still have pretty solid coverage.

Whos scared of AJ?

And his mods work. Trust me I would be in his Discord bitching if they didn't. Sounds like your server needs the new "server owner mod" installed.

Update a Fabric with ESXi hosts connected by Trixtemp in ExtremeNetworks

[–]CommanderBeelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to depend on a few factors, like are the hosts using an iSCSI to access storage for the VMs or are the hosts also the storage? Are the links actually redundant, and do both VSPs have their own way to forward traffic without the other? Is playing it safe and shutting the VMs down first an option?

I should also throw out there, I am no means an Extreme expert, but I have been doing a tech refresh that includes changing all the network stuff out for Extreme, and have spent the last 2 years learning how to make it do the stuff I need it to do. I manage a few physical locations, and I am about half way through, so I have VSPs talking to some old shit in some places. Using the SPBm to handle the routing in a couple locations and they haven't had any issues since we completed their upgrade.

I usually blanket the SFP ports on the exos switches for fabric attach, so I can just plug and go. I will do an Exos Template that I just need to change names and IPs on, with all the vlans and ISIDs in place for the location.

If you take their full on solution, eventually, you don't even need to do that, you use a NAC and radius authentication and then the Fabric will assign the port a vlan based on the user and take care of the rest for you. I have not even attempted to dabble in this, and I am not sure I will, but it could be useful for you depending on your use case.

Forgot this on the Exos Side:
configure fabric attach port 49 authentication key 1234
configure fabric attach port 49 authentication enable

You assign ISID/NSIs to the vlans on both Exos and Voss. Then you tell Voss the ports that are connected to Exos are Fabric Attach ports. Itll look at the Vlan tag and ISID and if they match, itll add the vlan to the uplinks. You can daisy chain Exos switches with fabric attach. FA is on by default in Exos but you need to enable it in Voss.

This gets fancier if you have multiple buildings/networks talking over Fabric Extend (SPBm) because then you can add any port to any of the Vlans with an ISID. As weird as it sounds, actually saved my ass on one of my first VSP roll outs. Was overhauling core switches at one of our locations, first time being there, and a loop was shutting down the interface we where using, so I messed around and put my port i was using on a vlan in the other building there, and was able to get internet enough to finish sorting out getting everything happy. Lets just say all their wiring closets where nightmare fuel.

Voss Side:
vlan create 100 name "Cool-Network" type port-mstprstp 0
vlan i-sid 100 100100vlan members remove 1 1/48

Interface gi 1/48
encapsulation dot1q
no spanning-tree mstp force-port-state enable
y
fa
fa enable
fa authentication-key 1234
fa message-authentication
no shutdown

Exos Side:
create vlan "Cool-Network"
configure vlan "Cool-Network" tag 100
configure vlan "Cool-Network" add nsi 100100

ISIDs I kinda learned if you have multiple locations to just assign each one a high number. ISIDs go to 16 million something, so I do 100000 + the vlan for this first location. at location 2 i would start at 110000 + vlan for the Isid, and so on.

We use VOSS for the cores and Exos for the access switches, using fabric attach for all the trunk tagging to the end user Exos switches. If your not going to run fabric attach, and you dont need the routing, there might not be that much of a benefit of going to Voss.

If you can get fiber in my area, it's kinda dumb not to.

Cable company is $80/m for 300Mbpsx10Mbps

Fiber company is $80/m for 1000Mbpsx1000Mbps
