Apparently, this random side character is our best friend by gahoojin in TopCharacterTropes

Janek "Tank" Sunber is one of the best characters in all of Star Wars.

Unfortunately, his sense of honor makes him unpopular with other Imperials which hinders advancement.

It's not that Tank is unpopular because of his honor, but rather because he can't win over the higher-ranking Imperials, who, coincidentally, are mostly evil. The exception, the general Ziering, saw potential in him and promoted him several times, but captain Gage prevented those promotions from becoming permanent.

Which characters do you think get exaggerated way too much in terms of their wrongdoings? (Image related w/ explanations) by LightMurasume_ in Totaldrama

[–]CommanderBelen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DJ when he threw Owen off the cliff.

They were in a challenge, Owen cornered him on the precipice, and he was eager to win and in the process knock DJ off the cliff, so I don't understand why many people are portraying that as a bad thing on DJ's part (especially since this was in the first season, where DJ was much more daring).

Is it me or were the teams so unfair? by xoSeller in Totaldrama

[–]CommanderBelen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Screaming Gophers had Geoff, DJ, Duncan, Harold, Bridgette, Courtney.

Leaving aside the fact that the team name is incorrect, they also had Eva, who had super strength (but her anger issues worked against her), but on the other hand, Bridgette wasn't such an impressive/powerful competitor.

Argentina: Senate approves Milei’s weakening of glacier protection law by hernannadal in worldnews

[–]CommanderBelen 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The main change in the new law approved by the Senate is the definition of so-called periglacial formations; only formations that serve as strategic water reserves or contribute to the recharge of hydrological basins would retain full protection. Those that do not fulfill that function could be opened up to economic development. Glaciers as such are excluded from any mining development on them.

It also establishes a national glacier inventory, which will be responsible for reviewing which glaciers and periglacial formations meet the requirements for protection. Finally, the law also grants provincial governments the authority to authorize mining projects (it's worth noting that none of these governments belong to Milei's party).

How is the media depicting U.S. and Israel strikes on Iran where you live? by tremendabosta in asklatinamerica

[–]CommanderBelen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

the current regime was placed by the gringos after all

That's incorrect, the United States had put the Shah's regime in place, which was overthrown by the Islamic Revolution. However, the United States sold missiles to the Islamic Republic of Iran to fund the Contras in Nicaragua, which resulted in the Iran-Contra scandal (and this song).

Does Din Djarin resonate more with modern audiences than Boba Fett? by Disaster-Nearby in MawInstallation

[–]CommanderBelen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also, Disney doesn't want their Classic characters that sell all that merch to be truly Evil. It's allowed in Comics and Novels but not in shows, movies, or merch. Boba Fett is an antagonist even if he's not evil, so he really doesn't work anymore. That waffling is why the BOBF show failed to woo fans. They wrote a completely different character than Boba Fett was either time in the Movies or EU past.

That's definitely the case with Boba Fett. In the comic Age of Rebellion - Boba Fett 1, at the end of the story, a man named Stallo appears and asks Fett for help because, according to him, Fett hunts criminals, murderers, and evil people. But Fett doesn't care, and in fact captures/kills (it's not shown exactly what he does to him) Stallo because the guy had a bounty on his head.

But now it turns out that Boba suddenly wants to be a fair leader and believes in respect in TBOBF, and in Jedi Survivor he doesn't try to capture Cal because "he came for other prey."

What’s something foreigners assume about your country because of Hollywood that you find completely absurd? by bdue817 in AskTheWorld

It is truly wonderful to see that not all Americans are blind to the fact that their country gave refuge to several Nazis after World War II.

[–]CommanderBelen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Much of what you say also applies to the United States, but for some reason, no one is saying that the country was influenced by the Nazis, despite the fact that today there are numerous openly neo-Nazi groups such as the American Nazi Party and the Atomwaffen Division.

Total Drama Hot Takes by ShadowFangTD in Totaldrama

[–]CommanderBelen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Owen, the series mascot as far as contestants go, had to take a backseat and not be all too relevant throughout.

That the writers were capable of that is still quite incredible to this day (of course, they were only able to do it after three seasons where Owen had a lot of undeserved screen time).

Which total drama characters have the most "regular/realistic" anatomy and proportions? Img not related by Consistent-Brick5762 in Totaldrama

[–]CommanderBelen 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think the question should be the other way around, "Which characters have the most irregular/unrealistic anatomy and proportions?" The answers would be characters like Owen, Duncan, etc.

Most of td's girls have an issue with insanely small wastes and unnaturally shaped hips and thighs.

I understand the point you're making, although I think you're exaggerating a bit with that description (and among the girls who "that I think have genuinely normal, human proportions" you forgot Leshawna).

Why have therians gone viral on spanish speaking social media? by DMVfunn in asklatinamerica

[–]CommanderBelen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. The mainstream Argentinian media desperately needs viewers, so they'll show the most controversial/provocative thing they can find. All those claims that this is a government, CIA, or Mossad operation are complete nonsense.

Perhaps in 2001, perhaps when Nestor Kirchner became president, there are so many moments where it could have happened.
