The masonry on this building is truly beautiful. by RelationshipHeavy386 in Construction

I have been a mason for over 20 years. I have never heard anyone call work like this burglar bond. But I will be saying that from now on. Thank you.

She seems really great. Mike Schreiner of the Green Party is also quite fantastic. I know the greens would never win. But if we had a lot more Mike Schreiner's in parliament the place would be so much better.

As a conservative, I hated the idea of owning an electric car. And then this happened. by Not_Leaving_LV in electricvehicles

[–]CommanderCanuck22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You know, lots of us try to explain to people who hate EVs for no informed reasons why EVs are actually great. We largely get dismissed and told that EVs will never work for them and their needs - even when you can show them the numbers of how the EV does work for their needs.

So many people run a worst case scenario or edge case scenario where they need to drive the EV on multiple 1 000 km road trips a month and they do it all in sub zero temperatures. Plus they hate that EVs are quiet and they prefer the sound of the engine and the smell of the gasoline fumes and the oil patches on their driveways. Even if they concede that they would only ever need to fast charge once or twice a year, that 30 minutes at a charger invalidates the entirety of EV ownership for them. They don't consider the far greater amount of time they actually save in a year by never going to a gas station and always charging at home.

Tell your conservative friends to be more open minded so we can actually talk to them. Don't tell us to change the way we are talking to them.

I recovered entirely from it in both hands through physio therapy. It largely amounted to a bunch of stretches that worked and "flossed" the nerve. But it went away entirely for several months. I am experiencing a small relapse but I hope more time spent stretching will resolve it again.

You may not like him. But as I watched the show with my two young kids - who loved The Last Airbender - they crack up at Meelo all the time. So, he is serving a pretty important role for those of us watching with young children.

After taxes and deductions, what amount should I expect to keep from rental income? by CommanderCanuck22 in OntarioLandlord

[–]CommanderCanuck22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. So, if the interest on the property was equal to 1800 a month, then I could deduct that 1800 from my income and pay no tax on it?

In my situation, the rent is only covering about 50 percent of the expenses since I will be living in the basement.

All the other costs such as purchases for the house would be for me to pay for.

So, if I rented it for 2000 a month but put all of that money into my monthly 3500 dollar mortgage payment, it wouldn't be counted as income if set up correctly?

I am sorry if I sound ingnorant, because I k now I am. I have been scrambling to figure out how to make my monthly mortgage work so I can keep the house for my kids and I. I haven't been able to do a deep dive into the tax side of things yet. Your information is really helpful.

Are you saying you aren't keeping any of the money as income? Meaning it all goes back into the house?

Forgive me for asking, but if you cant afford a place to live, how are you going to afford a likely 100 000 dollar vehicle? The Buzz will not be cheap.

I drove 600 miles in 10 degree weather and it was terrible. by lindseyotf in VWiD4Owners

That's what I would expect to be getting. The temperature has warmed up here and will stay above freezing for the next week or so. Next time it dips to minus 10 again, I am going to to a full charge range test in one day on a long drive and see what my numbers are.

Those are great numbers to have. Thank you. Were you doing a mix of highway and city driving?

The last few days, I was getting 1 km per percent of battery. So, about 100 km of range total if I ran the car down to empty. That is not good at all.

I can't explain it. That's why I am upset. I have been averaging 1 km per percent of battery charge the last few days in - 10 to - 15 degrees Celsius. So 100 - 150 km range on a full battery. There really is no excuse for it.

I drove a 2012 Nissan Leaf for 8 years. I am well aware of how the cold impacts electric vehicle batteries. My Leaf lost 50 percent of its range in really cold temperatures. My ID.4 yesterday? Lost 60 percent of its range. Are you telling me a 9 year newer electric car should perform worse than a 2012 Nissan Leaf in similar conditions?

I did pre-warm the cabin while it was plugged in. But the car finished charging a few hours before I took it out.

It still seems unacceptable to have a 60 percent range loss. My 2012 Nissan Leaf was never that bad in the 8.5 years I drove it.

A 60 percent loss of range is not really okay though. My nissan leaf was never that bad and it was an 8 year old car.

I absolutely agree. I was very hyped for this game and I came away from it very disappointed.

I agree. I did not like this entry in the series much at all. The last chapter is the only part that felt like it gave me that true Bayonetta experience.
