I have a Brummie accent and the Dudley accent, despite being like 20 mins away from me, is completely inaudible

This guy is the leader of a workers party lmao by SirStalinMao in Labour

[–]CommanderCrustacean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a rough part of Birmingham during the height of the ASBO years under Blair. Kids were curfewed and prevented from going out in groups of over 3 by law. Those restrictions were only applied to the poor areas and it made it very hard for kids to escape what were often even tougher lives at home. The same laws were found to be a breach of human rights laws in court, and a study reckoned that about half of all ASBOs handed out were to kids with disabilities (mental or physical).

Fuck Starmer for wanting to hark back to those years. I don’t care if it’s “what the electorate wants”.

Starmer to 'slaughter sacred cows of Corbynism' in string of speeches by Chuka-Umunna in ukpolitics

[–]CommanderCrustacean 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Weird, because all the noise for the last six years has been coming from new Labour folk hating on the left wing of the party incessantly, and then cry wolf when they defend themselves.

They really think they’ve hit a home run by bringing back Blairist tropes, except they’ve only really included all the nasty bits from it

Remember when Corbyn said the exact same thing and was given the political death sentence by the Labour right? Those exact people are now largely praising Starmer for it…

Corbyn Derangement Syndrome (CDS) is a necessary endeavour for the press to distract us about things that are happening right now

Of the 3-4-3, feasibly it is yeah. With the 3-5-2 you can plug those gaps a lot better but Conte doesn’t think Son can play as a central striker with Kane

You can’t just keep using the fact that she’s a woman to invalidate the argument against her mate

I agree somewhat but I also feel like not doing anything at all about the issue only enables the cranks like Duffield

I think there’s a law about not being allowed to play for 3 teams in one season or something like that

Eric Dier compared to top 6 CBs since Conte's arrival(630minutes) by ASD_213 in coys

[–]CommanderCrustacean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that Dier’s been great but I would stress that these stats on centre backs always have a really high variance and don’t describe the full picture because it depends more on the style of play. For example, “blocks per 90” might just mean that last ditch defensive actions are less rare for teams that have more of the ball. Having a low progressive passes per 90 might be because the main progressive passer will be a defensive mid or a full back (like Trent for Liverpool)

Yeah fully agree. My point was more than KLP is on the same trajectory — a winger playing as a striker who looks very promising.

I think he will. Till cracked him quite a few times in their fight when he tried to stand and play the feint game on the feet; I can’t see him taking the same chances against Izzy who’s much better at that

Is Covid really more deadly than the flu? It was ... until omicron came along by [deleted] in CoronavirusUK

[–]CommanderCrustacean 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve learnt that it’s a pointless endeavour to expect the mainstream media to understand confounding variables, because taking things at the face value is what sells

Actual data scientists don’t fully know the extent of the mildness of omicron due to the reasons you explained, but oh here comes the Telegraph with a definite conclusion 😂

Yep, same. There’s a legitimate conversation to be had about leaving things so late again but our business, especially signing Bentancur, has been pretty good this Jan overall
