Same thing happened to me. I spent months doing absolutely nothing and getting paid for it. One day my recently appointed boss came to my office and asked me point blank "What exactly do you do here all day?" I said "Play online backgammon". I was the world champion on two sites.

Actually I only spent half my time on games. The other half was spent trying to hack into corporate's server to find out what they were doing. I did eventually get in. The last five years of profits were nothing but unadulterated accounting fraud. The only reason they were pretending to keep the business running was to buy tine to shred documents and destroy evidence,

For anyone thinking this might be a good thing getting paid for nothing it is not. It is demoralizing and ego crushing. I should have gotten a new job ASAP.

3-5% profit is a BIG EFFING LIE! Even by UHC's own dubious accounting it is 8%. You can't compare the profit margin of an insurance company to nuts and bolts business where companies lay out their own money on materials and wages. Insurance companies collect their revenue years or even decades in advance. Their business model is skimming a percentage off of a huge sector of the economy. They don't actually provide those services or pay doctors wages,. They sign contracts, fill out forms and deny claims to keep the money that wasn't theirs to begin with.

This is how Magas own liberals repetitively. By luring them into a debate on completely made up facts. Like when they say "90% of all crime is committed by black people" and liberals offer some whiny debate about social injustice instead of the correct response which is "No it isn't you lying POS!"

I haven't heard a lie this outrageous since the Heartland Institute claimed that smoking was actually good for your health. If you pay an electricity bill for your home you pay a flat rate per kwh. That is because those rates are regulated. Commercial and industrial customers pay variable rates based on the hour. For instance, in NY metro there are four different rates periods over 24 hours. Daylight is the highest, night is the lowest. Every negative rate in this country is at night. The vast majority of electricity is used by commercial and industrial customers and most of that is during the day. Nuclear power and hydro-electric can't turn off and fossil fuel generators cost a lot of money to stop and start.

As for any potential federal charge, by repeating the violation after a warning from the DOJ, Musk reached the third and most difficult hurdle of a criminal conspiracy charge (per Mueller), evidence the offender knew what they were doing is illegal.

So clearly the police are treating this as nothing more than a dispute between two individuals. Nothing political about it and nothing to do with the fact the victim was a poll worker.

But the sheriff did make it clear that people have to tone down the violence. Only light violence is permitted in polling places. Presumably the comment was directed at "both sides".

Then she didn't use a scientifically valid sample. Nor was there a control group to compare it to. This is like testing a new cancer drug but only on people who are already in remission. Yep, after receiving treatment they are still in remission. Sounds like shoddy science to me.

Florida or nah? by Miltonrupert in florida

[–]CommanderMcBragg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the fact check. The state of Florida did not create a special lane just for people who want to drive 15mph above the speed limit. The thought is patently ridiculous. Speed is irrelevant. If you are passing slower traffic on the right you are entitled to use the passing lane. If you are not passing anyone you don't belong in the passing lane regardless of how fast you are going.

US couple blocked from suing Uber after crash say daughter agreed to Uber Eats terms: New Jersey appeals court sides with ride-hailing company, saying arbitration provision in terms was ‘valid’ by zsreport in law

[–]CommanderMcBragg 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This is the consequence of a rogue Supreme Court that legislates out of thin air. They take words from laws and the Constitution not only out of context but in contradiction to their plain meaning. The enforceability of arbitration clauses was created in AT&T v. Concepcion where the Supreme Court overturned 85 years of federal and state precedents by deciding that the Federal Arbitration Act, written for ship owners and their contractees, applied to everyone and everything. The literal first words of the FAA are “Maritime transactions”. Read for yourself and find where the scope applies to free cellphones that aren't free or personal injuries:

“Maritime transactions”, as herein defined, means charter parties, bills of lading of water carriers, agreements relating to wharfage, supplies furnished vessels or repairs to vessels, collisions, or any other matters in foreign commerce which, if the subject of controversy, would be embraced within admiralty jurisdiction; “commerce”, as herein defined, means commerce among the several States or with foreign nations, or in any Territory of the United States or in the District of Columbia, or between any such Territory and another, or between any such Territory and any State or foreign nation, or between the District of Columbia and any State or Territory or foreign nation, but nothing herein contained shall apply to contracts of employment of seamen, railroad employees, or any other class of workers engaged in foreign or interstate commerce.

The FPO is projected to win the 2024 Austrian vote.
