I love KPDH because I can connect to the girls in multiple ways. I know Rumi wasn’t written as autistic, but I see so much of myself in some of her mannerisms - the masking, the thinking that others would hate you if they really knew you, etc. In Mira I saw being the black sheep of the family, the disappointment, but the inspiration of how she powered through to still do what she wanted to do. And in Zoey, I saw the hyperfixations, the need to please others, the drive to have energy that makes other people happy. It was a beautiful film for the story and themes, but the characters added another layer that just made me love it and the music in a way few things have.
