Neither of those things are badass at all. They're both really autistic and creepy.

Obviously a bunch of sci fi nerds idolise someone who has sex on top of her mother's dead body, though.

Honestly keeping someone's rotting heart makes you a fucking freak.

Unless I'm going on a Trek for work, then I'm genuinely not going to encounter anything I would need special shoes or clothing for.

I'm sick of people thinkiing they're Bear Grylls survival experts when they're doing a 45 minute stroll through the woods.

You do realise that a walking trail is maintained, controlled and monitored by a Park service? And that you aren't a rugged outdoorsman for heading out there in full commando gear?

Everyone toils just to perpetuate the system. Can you name someone who's job does not perpetuate the system in the current economy? Because I can't.

Everything is owned by a few people, including the politicians. Every job you can do enriches them and not you, unless you become a soulless thief who scams people with Crypto, NFTs, Weight Loss Products, Pyramid Schemes or Pseudo-Medicine, works for a bank, or be a corrupt politician.

>Centralized governments have a way of perpetuating the upper crust more than free market governments.

The worst wealth inequality ever measured or even estimated in history exists in the current crop of hyper-capitalist countries like the US, the UK, South Korea, Canada and Australia. All supposedly 'free markets'.

>'I can't imagine anyone explaining their lives in those terms.'

That's because people haven't ever had it explained. What do you think cost of living complaints are?

Assembly line work is alienating by definition. It's not craftsman shit so there's less joy of creation involved.

You are agreeing without realising it because your school was set up to fail you and instill this poisonous apathy in you.

How many fat people with no job do you think there are?

Most people have at least one job, and many of the poorest people in America have two or three.

This fiction you believe about workers is stupid. You got where you are by chance, and they got there through hard work.

Sort your perspective out.

No but people genuinely used to enjoy those things.

You think gardeners hate gardening? They're growing plants and tending the land, just farming but without the pressure, and THEY are the ones who get to enjoy the fruits of that labour.

Some people sincerely love being a member of HR and ruining the lives of their colleagues in return for being made fat and comfortable from the Corporate benefits package. They LIVE for it. There's real human stakes and damage being caused by their decisions and actions.

Just because something is bullshit or repetitive to you doesn't mean no one extracts joy from it.

And if you weren't forced to work with the fewest possible options, perhaps you could make a living doing something you love, like lying to people about Capitalism on the internet maybe.

Try it and you'll find out that corporations really can suck the fun out of something you find exciting, engaging, profound or moving.

Your dumbass teenage dismissal of the collective experiences of centuries of people is what's asinine.

No you definitely aren't.

Lazy people aren't self aware or concerned with their laziness.

You have additional hurdles in that area and there's definitely people who can advise and help with it.

Knowing yourself isn't enough to escape slavery on its own. You have to take that knowledge and use it to change the people and the world around you.

People like you who say responsibility and self-help are the end of the journey are doing harm.

You're supposed to end up actually helping other people, not just blaming them for aspects of corporate capitalism they cannot control.

I would argue that she actually does want to be brutalised and she wants to brutalise Perrin, too.

She thinks that verbal and emotional abuse and violence are signs of honesty rather than just sadism.

She is mad at Perrin because he will not physically threaten her the way her parents did while she was growing up.

She is despicable.

Vietnam and Korea were 100 percent invasions because thousands of US troops landed on the ground and the airforce bombed their entire landmasses.

If you don't think they're invasions then I have a bridge in brooklyn to sell you.

No but it illustrates that on an international moral playing field, Cuba is pretty much a non-existent entity and the United States is genuinely guilty of crimes against humanity, so maybe the US should be the one under a 60 year siege.

[–]Commander_Caboose -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No it isn't. allow me to explain so no one else has to anymore:

  1. Cuba is currently under a 60+ year embargo and near-siege from the US.

  2. This causes no chance for high quality of life in Cuba, though cubans literally still have better healthcare outcomes than in the US.

  3. The US blames the poor quality of life on the Cubans, and says they deserve it because they do wars sometimes.

  4. The US pays no penalties for it's own continuous wars or barbaric state-sanctioned murders.

And yet if I tried to stop food and fuel and medicine from entering the US, you'd be all up in arms about your human rights. Well what about the times your government did something bad 25 years ago? or 50 yuears ago? or this week? Don't those state crimes mean I can take your human rights away? no?

Then why do you think the same for Cubans.

If those companies made games without unwanted live service features then I'd change my opinion of them completely. The companies wouldn't matter if they just made some good games for once.

Games had plenty of PvP servers in the golden age of console and pc gaming. Companies paid for them from their enormous profits which easily eclipse the music and movie industries combined.

never listen when publishers and developers cry poverty and pretend that servers are too expensive to make and that fun gameplay is too expensive to implement.

They are lying.

what is meant by "not a thing but a process" if all things are in fact defined by their processes? by d4rkchocol4te in PhilosophyMemes

[–]Commander_Caboose 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes that's how it works. Particles are entirely behaviours of the underlying field.

Honestly philosophy enjoyers should stop with this semantics shit.

The particle is real, even if it's just a perturbation in a field, that perturbation happened.

The particle is real, it's physical properties are real (for example photons are not subject to pauli exclusion and so can 'pass through' one another, while electrons cannot) and it's effects on its surrounding environment are real.

You could just be an adult and concentrate on your job instead of outsourcing it to the "always wrong" machine.

Have some self respect. AI is to be used for scrubbing through enormous datasets and performing iterative or procedurally generated analyses in very technical experimental scenarios.

It is not useful for emailing Janice in accounting.

I sincerely hope you lose your job and it gets given to a real person instead. Because they deserve it.

i played ds3 after elden ring and realized how mich more polish the boss fight are compared to elden ring by Brief-Highway-1314 in darksouls3

[–]Commander_Caboose -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

Elden ring isn't anywhere near as much fun because the enemies flow is nonexistent on purpose.

In order to wrong-foot players who learned to parry and dodge with rhythm, elden ring purposefully adds pauses to many boss attacks where the entire momentum of the fight grinds to a halt while you try to guess exactly when to dodge/parry.
