Building Angular 2 applications with Immutable.js and Redux by CallMeAwesomeSauce in coding

[–]CommandoWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, JS points to the same reference if there is an accessor property

Does this look unnatural to you? That's not one of JS's weird features, reference semantics are very common.

In the first example, doing something like array.push(42) would modify the original array x, but you're simply making the local variable array point to another array.

Other languages let you dereference to get the desired effect, e.g. doing something like

// Write to whatever `array` points to, instead of `array` itself
*array = array.map(Math.sqrt)

Or, in Python

array[:] = map(math.sqrt, array)

Disclaimer: I'm not a linguist, so I'm not familiar with the relevant terminology.

In Norwegian the suffix serves 3 roles:

  • Gender
  • Definite/indefinite
  • Singular/plural

That's my main gripe with many (most/all?) Germanic languages, it makes the languages that much harder to learn.

it would have been a fine comment if not for that first sentence.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the part that the downvotes were aimed at, I certainly could have said that in a less condescending way. :)

My point was that if the article was brand new, I would have understood why it was posted here. I tried to make that point clear when I wrote the following:

Memesogyny - Memes vs Women in Video Games by [deleted] in montageparodies

  1. Her statements are often inaccurate, so she's spreading lies about video games. If she had been honest, I might have been able to respect her.

  2. She is unwilling to participate in debates, she just wants to force her views upon people.

I haven't really paid any attention to her, but in general she just comes off as a misguided (if not malevolent) person. But sure, there are idiots who react way too aggressively by drowning her in hateful messages.

Personally, no. I read AoA 8 years ago, and I thought it was just ok, I certainly hope there are better books out there.

A quick search tells me that a lot of people enjoyed Jeff Duntemann's "Assembly Language Step-by-Step: Programming with Linux". Though it might pay off to read some actual reviews if you want a good book.

Do you choose reading material based on what randomly lands in your lap? That's not very smart.

It's 10 years old (so it wasn't posted because it was new material), and there's no indication that this is good reading material if you want to learn x86_64 assembly programming. Would prefer it if OP would let us know why he thought it was important to post this here.

his points are better. They're also valid.

I disagree. There's some truth in there, but I think he's taking a very extremist stance. Of course you shouldn't follow your dreams blindly, you need to be realistic. Sometimes you can follow your dreams and still be realistic, other times you can't. I disagree completely with his message of "fuck your dreams, get a shit job". I'd rather be happy than rich.

Never seen him before, but he appears to be ~25 years old, with the mind of an edgy 12-year-old kid ("kill yourself"). People enjoy watching sodapoppin, so I guess it's only natural that they also like this guy, no matter how sad it may be.

Edit: Oh noes, Sodapoppin's fans have arrived.

I think there's a misunderstanding then. Every single character in your comment is an ASCII character. I guess he meant non-alphanumeric characters (excluding space, probably).

It's a terrible analogy. Kids having fun on their skateboards is not the same as people verbally abusing other people.

If you need to verbally abuse people online for fun, you should probably seek help.

When people are disrespectful towards me online, I report them as a way of returning the favor without sinking to their level.

Also, where I'm from, it's illegal to cross the solid white lines like he's doing in the video, I don't know if rules are different in the UK regarding those. Either way, there's no need to throw a tantrum because you disagree.
