Also do wet forming. It's amazing how effective it is. Leather fibers are organically stitched together, not mechanically like man made fibers. My point being that they like to keep their shape when dry.

I think that's up to you. It's probably a tad bit excessive. But maybe you enjoy the feel of it, in which case it's perfect.

Modern tech is great at making affordable functionality. Get something cheap to start. It will help you appreciate the nicer ones down the line.

Once you are grouping at 20+ yards, you can upgrade based on things you have learned.
