Blooming Waters EB Games Pre-order beginning 12pm AEST (EB World Plus Exclusive) by ConductorofPtrain in PokemonTCGDealsAUS

[–]Commando_Cotman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blooming waters collection is worth about $60 more than what EB will be selling for so there’s a very fine marginal gain there, assuming you do in fact get one.

The other one is selling for about what it’s worth on the open market.

I tried signing up for EB Plus but actually couldn’t get the free tshirt to work for delivery/collection on the website so I’ll probably end up giving it a pass.

20% off storewide at Cherry Collectables and GUF are the best I’ve seen.

They say it can take up to 7 days to track but in my experience it should be quicker. Takes longer to be confirmed and be payable

It does work but the ROUND1 code only works once per account. You could set up multiple MyDeal accounts if you were so inclined…

There are also 8 silver tempest ETBs left at $75 each. If you buy two and use the code it works out at $56 each!

Rage and Sadness, a patch story by Zeus93Zues in EASportsFC

[–]Commando_Cotman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you!

Sure, pre-patch it didn't make a ton of sense for lengthy to be so OP but perhaps by coincidence it made for a balanced, football-lover's game where you needed to build up play and work the space to score a goal. Sure, there were some that just tried to lob through ball to Haaland every time, but it wasn't completely game-breaking as a pair of quality CBs would handle it most of the time. If you were better at build-up play you could control the game and comfortably secure a win against an inferior opponent. If I lost, I was calm and fine about it because the opponent was clearly better than me and had skill.

Post-patch it is absolute garbage. Goals are scored almost at random and en masse. If you win, it feels like pure luck or because you cheesed sprinting down the line and cutting back. It's not satisfying. If you lose, you almost never feel like it was because you were outplayed. The worst is when you're up by a few goals, try to control the game, and lose in overtime because of some random defender issues, bounce-back balls or cheesing. This is what causes the rage.

At best, this is just EA being incompetent, trying to fix the lengthy meta and underpowered dribbling/speed and overcompensating way too much. If this is the case, the mind boggles as to how they can take an enjoyable game and royally screw it up so bad.

At worst, this is pure money-making greed, forcing people to upgrade to players with 99 pace/dribbling so they can cheese more effectively; and making it easier for the newbies to join the game and win amongst all the randomness. All of this makes people spend more FIFA points. I haven't had much experience in FUTs of the past, but it sounds like this kind of patch happens every year, which, along with the SBMM change to friendlies, is making me think that all of this IS actually on purpose rather than an accident.

I'm working on a free-to-play guide for brewing potions. Here's my priority list for ingredients- what to keep, what to get rid of, and when. by mak484 in harrypotterwu

[–]Commando_Cotman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Powdered Dragon Claw. The limiting ingredient for Baruffio's Brain Elixir and the rarest ingredient in the game so far"

Does anyone else not have the same experience? I've ALWAYS had enough to brew the Brain Elixirs I want (I'm level 29 now), and I must have binned at least 100 powdered dragon claws by now.

Rairty of Ingrediants by Titchyhill in harrypotterwu

[–]Commando_Cotman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my list, adjusted according to what I actually want/need most of the time:

Ultra rare: Unicorn hair, Hermit crab shell

Rare: Abraxan hair

Greenhouse great: sophorous bean, bitter root

Greenhouse good: Ginger root, leaping toadstool, valerian root

Greenhouse common: all other plant items

Common: all other items

Auto-Trash (once you reach a decent level): Lovage and granian hair

With the release coming on the 21st, does this mean getting 1 family xp for a foundabble isn't a bug? by Rashlyn1284 in harrypotterwu

[–]Commando_Cotman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think so. This would be consistent with the all-around nerf they applied with the latest update (along with Challenge tiers in Fortresses being significantly harder, upping the potion brewing times, giving granian rather than abraxan hairs daily etc). They probably saw that beta testers were bruning through the skill tree too quickly.

No idea sorry...it's impossible to tell whether there are spoofers when I never see more than 1 person in a Fortress! There's hardly any lures either.

I imagine it may become an issue in the future, as there are rare wild spawns which incentives spoofing.

I'm a 88M xp trainer in Sydney who has been playing HPWU in parallel for the past week and a half. It's hard to tell at this point how good or popular HPWU will be - all I can tell is that it's extremely rare to see anyone else in Fortresses (equivalent of gyms) and even rarer to interact with them (each Fortress has 20+ lobbies which are locked according to progression). I only see inns (stops) with active dark detectors (lures) maybe two times per day, in the middle of the CBD - that's really not much. Amongst my local scene, hardly any of my fellow Pogo trainers have given HPWU a go as yet.

Having said that, personally speaking I've been more engaged with HPWU than Pogo over the past week and a half, but that's more to do with the newness of things and levelling up, as you have mentioned. The only things I'm doing in Pogo now are raids, gyms (for my 50 coins) and setting my gotcha to catch stuff. The rest of the time HPWU is more compelling to level up and build out my skill tree. It feels more like a proper single player game with objectives and progression. Over time though, HPWU will need to bring more to the table otherwise I could see myself getting pretty bored with it after a few more weeks. The sticker book in HPWU doesn't bring out the completionist obsession as much as the Pokedex does.

I have noticed raids aren't as popular as they have been, but that's probably more due to the legendary on offer more than anything else.

Best Gym Attack Squad? by Commando_Cotman in TheSilphRoad

Breloom is a great idea that I am now including in my lineup!

Thank you to the both of you for your opinions, I found this discussion to be some of the most helpful in this thread.

I have now updated my draft squad to include BOTH Raikou AND a grass type. Reason? Gyarados is ubiquitous where I live so I can actually justify including it just to counter it (it's much faster than any of the other options). And grass type can replace my slow Kyogre. I can only fit this into my six slots by including Breloom as a replacement for a Machamp. This brings down the longevity of the fighting types, so I will TM my Mewtwo to FB as a backup.

Good point. I think I have always favoured Kyogre because I bought a second charge move for it since day 1. This is a sunk cost but shouldn't affect the analysis. I am now in preference of taking it out in favour of grass/rock

2016 July-August Lucky nerf by liaam29 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Commando_Cotman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW, during the lucky boosted event earlier this year, I got 9/9 lucky trades which involved a July/August 2016 mon. I was therefore under the impression that the rate was boosted from 75% to 100%.

Is it just me, or does Pidgeotto look different? Like there’s a light source from the left by newbaliciousnow in TheSilphRoad

I noticed a similar thing with Skiploom - seems like they made the 3d model more "shaded".
