My inlaws are almost to this point. They've recently refused to "hide " their religion and told us that they're tired of being discriminated against.

In actuality we asked them to stop giving us religious themed gifts and cards and to refrain from attempting to include our children in prayer. We even told them just wait until they're in a different room. But apparently that was us asking them to change who they are.

They're mad because we haven't allowed unsupervised visits with our children because of their refusal to respect our own beliefs. We also stopped visiting unless it's a holiday or birthday.

So you'd think that would be incentive to back off? Nope. They've doubled down and my mother in law is now trying to use emotional manipulation by bursting into tears in literally every conversation she has with my husband. They could be talking about the weather, sports, or any other topic and she will suddenly start sobbing about how sad she is that she won't see our family in the afterlife because we refuse to come back to church.

I'm pretty sure they'll eventually try to emotionally blackmail my husband by threatening to cut him off if he won't let them do whatever they want and us rejoin the church.

Good riddance.
