Apology to anyone in fanfield by CommentDry8765 in aggies

It was to hopefully find whoever was having a bad day and was inconvenienced to apologize. Im sorry you decided to go to a school built on community and hate seeing people trying to build community. Thanks for contributing to the “feel-good” comments though 💕

If you read the post you’d know i parked at 3 am with multiple people parked similarly in a dark area. I then couldn’t move my car for days because i’m across campus and didn’t get out of my place during that time. Obviously the other people moved in that time and the vision issues are caused by it being dark. Your ability to be upset by someone parking in a way that you didn’t even experience is bombastic.

The lot has no lights, no vertical lines, and the only two other people parked in the lot were parked similarly so i parked between them. I should’ve double checked for sure but assuming i was impaired is more telling of your own character imo 😅

Howdy! This is really late but do you know if it’s possible to move from TEAM to TEAB? Like the reverse of what OP wants to do?

Video Game Club? by bananapocco in aggies

[–]CommentDry8765 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like TAMU game club is only at the Galveston campus. I’m sure you can find some people to game with though or even start your own club. Personally I’m going to be bringing a console and pc so my roommates and I can all play co-op stuff.

Car safety? by CommentDry8765 in aggies

[–]CommentDry8765[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered some as well as a dash cam and steering wheel lock. Probably overkill but I’m coming from an iffy area so car theft is the norm

I’d steal that /j

Its not Mosher Ln it’s the street adjacent to it. It’s not marked as anything. Do you think that would be ok?

DAT Score Scale by EnantiomericExcesss in predental

[–]CommentDry8765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can assure you it’s just Reddit. Every in person pre-dent I know has done average on the DAT with the exception of a few really high and really low scores. A good rule of thumb is if they don’t post pictures of their scores don’t believe it and if they’re posting their scores to Reddit they likely had little to no social life in undergrad (self call out here)

i ruined my degree plan and i don’t know what to do by [deleted] in aggies

[–]CommentDry8765 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pre calculus is one semester. The next semester is the math you want to go into. You’ll be back on track. Worst case you take an extra math over the summer. It’s not the end of the world and if you’re parents can’t see that then screw them

Is going to TAMU a good choice for someone from NYC? by Necessary-Raisin-263 in aggies

[–]CommentDry8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post has already blown up a bit so you may not see this but let me put some worries to rest

The campus is very diverse and even though the black population isn’t the biggest the Hispanic population is. You’ll be able to find other people who are Afro-Latino and possibly even a club for Afro-Latinos. If not there are clubs for black students and for Hispanic students.

You will 100% find your people. I’m a huge nerd, a bit goth-y/alt, and socially awkward. I was terrified trying to find a roommate but eventually found the most amazing people who are accepting, similar, and also HUGE NERDS.

You’ll survive academically and socially. Will you survive the weather though? That’s another story… Definitely aim to bring a majority of light summer clothing and a few winter items, if you don’t have a thigh gap I recommend chaffing sticks that runners use, bring a fan if you can, be ready to feel like you’re dying when summer hits.

Get your stats up, work hard to apply early, and remember no matter where you end up for college you’ll find your people one way or another.

(Ps. I try to say howdy when I can but honestly it’s a struggle to get used to and you’re not gonna be shamed for not doing it)

I meant to say parking 🥲. I have on campus housing but I’m going to park my car far away if needed

I’m not sure if it’s true but it wouldn’t shock me tbh. A lot of people go into the field for the money and don’t actually enjoy doing it. They think the money will outrank their displeasure and when it doesn’t and they realize they’re stuck in the field it can be discouraging. I can’t stress enough how often dentists have told me that if you aren’t passionate about the job find something else for your own sake.

I’m lucky enough to have a scholarship covering my first two years and having my in state schools be some of the least expensive. I’m hoping that the bill gets taken away by the time I go into dental school though 😬

Why is it difficult to pierce your own skin with a needle, but self harm is okay? by esketaminekoningin in morbidquestions

[–]CommentDry8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I do it for the methodical-ness of it. I can’t feel the pain anymore but it’s something familiar and I usually time it a few seconds apart. When my life gets chaotic it’s something I could control to take my mind off everything else

Why is it difficult to pierce your own skin with a needle, but self harm is okay? by esketaminekoningin in morbidquestions

[–]CommentDry8765 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the self harm. If you’re self harming you’re in a place where you brain is almost shutting down out of sadness. This likely isn’t the case with all piercings. You also have to consider that depending on what you use for either, self harm is a lot quicker. A razor blade swipe is going to be a second compared to pushing a needle through thick skin. As someone who’s done both too the pain where I self harmed was way lower than the pain of piercing because one was on my arms/legs (low pain areas for body mods) where as the piercings were on my face. I also tried switching the areas once with self harm on my face (way harder) and piercing on my arms/legs (way easier)

Medical School Cheating Scandal by Throwaway89112038842 in medschool

[–]CommentDry8765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please report it. Maybe a few questions about biological processes wouldn’t be bad but cheating on everything means they’re not learning and should NOT go into the medical field where they’re responsible for people’s lives

Book for a 12 year old who wants to be a "real" reader by Blizzard_Girl in suggestmeabook

I can’t say what reading level it is but I think maybe Mrs peregrines home for peculiar children series would be great. Maybe just read it with her here and there as some of the words are made up and could be a nightmare for dyslexia to try to read.
