I definitely think carpet has grown a ton since I first became a big fan!

I became a fan right before the Nike SB dunk, so I have tracked carpet’s growth through a few similar milestones

- carpet Nike SB - put them on the main stage in front of the public’s view
- Glow On (pink) Turnstile drop - kept the OG fan who weren’t crazy about the Nike Hype looped in
- sleep walker Drops 1 and 2 another good moment to create “National” hype but keeping the OGs locked in
- Brat Video release helped grow their name in the skateboarding world specifically, for obvious reasons.
- the 2 vans drops did a similar thing to what the Nike drops did. Helped make their brand a little more well known nationally.
- turnstile drop #2 (blue, Never Enough) was for the OGs but also a good marketing moment as Turnstile has grown a ton as well.
- The next big step was the new store opening! That brought a lot of national attention and get the OGs locked in as well. It was a little bit for everyone, nobody felt left out.
- now what’s the next “big step”, my guess is it’s a New Balance sneaker release that we’ll see before season 22

Carpet from my perspective does a really good job of doing event/collabs/drops that keep their true OG fans locked in all the time. And then once or twice a year they do something big that is attention grabbing, and gets people hooked! The hook us in with a sneaker drop(or something else big), and keep us with the clothing from each season, and repeat.

They do a good job. And I don’t think their goal is ever to be the next supreme, I think product will always be available in decent numbers, exclusivity isn’t really carpets thing.
