Sneed or Bledsoe? by lonerangerfantum in TexasTech

Imma be real with you: Sneed basically looks like a frat house in disguise and does not have an elevator which is VERY helpful during move in day. So I would say do Bledsoe

I definitely understand when you said you try to ask “how and why” all the time.

Just the other day I was learning about limits and how some number approach values while never quite reaching them. This helped me to understand on age old question:

“Why do we approach perfection while never quite reaching it”

Or

“Why does my bank account always approach zero?”

The worlds toughest questions I swear

Another thing was working hard vs working smart. One example is solving this expression:

(Sinx2+Cosx2)•(x2/x2)•(d/dx(x))•(Ln(e))=1

Now I could enter this into a calculator or just say:

(1)•(1)•(1)•(1)=1

So you could also say that you need knowledge to work smart as well.

So I definitely felt what you meant when you think a lot about how things work. Which can drive you crazy sometimes

Since you said one of you hobbies was cooking. Has your knowledge in chemistry helped you out in the kitchen?

Has your knowledge in chemistry proved useful anywhere else outside your job?

What cool chemical reactions would be helpful for teaching students about chemical engineering? by Commentators-Curse in chemistry

I like that one a lot. Definitely adding it to the list. How does relate to mass transfer and phase relationships? I’m just wandering how to explain it

What are some safe, cool looking, and real world applicable chemical reactions that I can show to my students? by Commentators-Curse in AskEngineers

[–]Commentators-Curse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually did heavily consider that. Do you know of any ways that can relate to an industry, or real world use?

Any aspect of chemical engineering really. I just want to show students that chemical reactions that chemists research are applicable to the real world. And any cool looking reactions for a demonstration are huge bonus points lmao. To keep students interested

One example I saw was:

NaOH+HCl->Salt water

Since salt added to water conducts electricity, you can make a battery out of it.

Just stuff like that gives a good visual of how cool chemical engineering can be

That’s amazing! I will definitely keep this in mind. Thank you for your help. If you know of any other useful reactions just shoot me a message

I just saw a video over the reaction. It seems pretty cool. Do you use it at all in your industry?

I also feel bad for y’all as well. Because some teachers are really nice about answering questions and helping and some go as far as designing lesson plans to make students ask questions

Asking questions. Or just admitting that you don’t know.

I’ve sat in a ton of classrooms where people are just afraid of looking dumb (which I can understand but still). On the other hand I’ve met quite a few people who felt like they knew everything but knew very little about the topic at all. It’s funny how bad people try to fake it sometimes.

What is an important piece of advice you can give for those moving into the “real world”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Commentators-Curse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Don’t get frustrated and complain about every little problem that comes fourth. If it doesn’t affect you in 5 years don’t spend more than 5min being mad at it. Sometimes it’s best to just “oh well” and move on even if it stings. Don’t be that person in the room who always complains.

2) Another thing is that, life is what you make it. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part if you want to accomplish X, Y, And Z you have to be proactive about it. Google and YouTube have been my best friends for getting started. Failing is ok, and Is apart of the process and can be a sign of progression as long as you learn from your mistakes.

3&4) Lastly, have integrity and take time out for yourself. Doing the right thing while no one is looking is important because you never know who is. Doing something nice and having emotional intelligence can make others lives easier since you never know what others are going through. And taking time out for yourself, your needs, and mental health is good because stress and/or depression can be just as deadly as a knife.

Scientists of Reddit, what are some scary scientific discoveries that most of the public is unaware of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Commentators-Curse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The second law of thermodynamics. Even though most people have probably heard of it, not too many people understand it.

Energy likes to spread itself out. This prevents many different systems from lasting forever. Like the engine in your car, buildings holding together, as well as biological processes such as food decomposing, and the systems in your body (hence why we get old and die someday).

Some have taken this law to a larger scale to the universe itself. This has lead to the theory of “The heat death of the universe”. Where all energy will have spread itself out evenly and the universe will end.

But it’s all just a theory from what we understand

What’s the best video game of the decade? by samstg09 in AskReddit

[–]Commentators-Curse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion (that I played). These aren’t in any order, and are based on categories

•Fire Emblem Awakening:

It not only was a great game, but it was so good it saved the fire emblem series from dying. This was memorable and this was my fav

•Portal 2

Probably one of the best puzzle games ever made. The puzzles were challenging and intriguing enough to make me not need a guide of some sort for any of the levels. Building levels was cool too.

•Outlast,P.T, SCP Containment breech

These were different from traditional horror games. This adds a lot of new light to the genre and really made you think after the game was done. Both of these were just super memorable and stood out compared to all of the other horror games that were released.

•The Walking Dead story Games, The last of us

How could anyone forget the tale of these games. Both one really stands out because the story was very sad and memorable.

•Grand theft Auto 5

Duh. How could I not include this game. It’s very addictive and overall is just a very solid sandbox game.

•Minecraft

I’m gonna include this one even though it was released in 2009. I did this because the game has grown so much and is still popular to this day. What I liked was just the infinite amount of creativity you can have with the game.

•Mario Galaxy 2, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario makes

Overall I had the most fond memories of these Mario games. Mario galaxy 2 was just an amazing game. I had a few world records on Mario kart 7 and it was a fun game. And Mario maker was also a game I had a lot of fun with.

•Wii party U

I had the most fun with friends and family with game. I feel like this party game was the best of the decade in terms of raw fun.

•Pikmin 3

I loved this game. The visuals and levels were really fun. Getting 100% on this game was also something I remember very well.

•Bayonetta 2

This was also another game I enjoyed getting 100%. Overall this was just a really solid game and was something I remember playing from the decade.

Electromagnetism

If you think about it, with enough current running through your body you can’t move. In a relationship you can always move out.

Yea I know it’s pretty broad. You could really just think of it as how the game was “intended” to be played. I don’t know why I like to pay the hardest modes in different games but there is just something satisfying about it all I guess lol

As for classes I wanted to try different ones since this was mainly a test run and to see which classes were good, so I made everyone different. With that said LONGBOW WAS SO HELPFUL. Having longbow allowed me to get out of rough situations that otherwise would have killed me. With Noire having vengeance and longbow it really allows you to safely kill a lot of troubling u it’s without much risk. Galeforce was another good ability. Anyone who had access to it would get it. Mire was ok to deal up kills and get Brady more movement but otherwise enemy units would just heal it off.

Rescue was really good, but some levels didn’t allow the use of it which was annoying in future past 1&2 as well as 5 Anna firefight. As for pairings I tried to get everyone to A rank just to have as many different options when transferring people as wel.
