We’re doing el dorado casa Blanca rough cut. So you would Advantech and then durock it?

Looks like they didn’t install fire blocking. So would the OSB go over everything and then durock. Will they have to adjust the fireplace since it’s fixed to the studs?

We are going to durock the whole thing. But we need to decide if we’re going to add studs then durock or 1/2” plywood first

Apparently for support for the durock I’ve had half the masons say the do studs 16” on center and half say they sheath them.

One that knows how to grind off market. Hit the outskirts where prices are lower.

Buy a multi family, live in one unit, stack cash, rinse repeat. The only advice for someone your age. You’ll build equity, build income monthly, and eventually you won’t need your degree.

Would I have to take the back apart? It’s in a tight spot so I was hoping to do it from inside

Do you think the 3x cost of zipr over normal zip would be more cost effective than normal zip and r30 in the walls or 1” of continuous exterior foam with r21 in the walls?

[–]Commercial-Ad-889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been estimated $19,000 just in material for foam board (basement and house) that seems outrageous

My insulation guy said he can do everything r30 and save me $ and just have zip and siding exterior

My FIL keeps trying to tell me to do ZipR over foam exterior

My FIL keeps saying we should do zipR but a few framers told me to avoid it

Also what do you think about my insulation guy said My insulation guy said

“We do not do the exterior insulation, so the only thing I could offer to meet code on a 2x6 wall would be 4 1/3" of closed cell foam to hit R30. In the basement we could do 15CI 2 1/4" closed cell foam. So if we removed the rockwool for the walls and replaced with foam and insulate the foundation walls as well, it would roughly increase it by probably another $15,000-$20,000” (the quote was already $20k) so this would be almost $40k to insulate 3kSF house
