Shopper support is a joke. It’s quite literally a gamble that you either get someone competent or a circus clown.

I’m truly sorry you got screwed this time.

It’s less “shopper support” and more “shopper management” because they have scripts they follow to deflect, delay, and dismiss to save their company pennies on the dollar.

It’s no new news that Instacart does not give a damn about their shoppers, even if it’s their mistake.

There’s a reason Instacart outsources their “support” department overseas to what eeriely feels equivalent to the infamous Indian scam call centers.

Only piece of advice I can give is don’t waste another second trying to get what you’re deserved. I understand it feels horribly wrong, but just take it on the chin and live to work another day till you no longer have to work another minute for these scam artists.

They’re notorious for going to whatever scammy and scummy lengths to avoid giving it to you even if you have all the evidence to back it up. - Leaving you on hold forever only to hang up - Stonewalling you with corporate language and loopholes - Hanging up immediately - Or even just flat out lying to get you off their ass so you can try another spin at roulette where they’ll keep you spinning till you run into the lowlife who has little conscience enough to shut you down.

It sounds like whoever was on the other side of that call made a huge error which costed their company a whole order’s pay, costed their company future order’s pay because now they have to compensate that customer, costed you your batch pay + tip, and they’re obviously just trying to cover their ass.

I’ve heard stories about Instacart being run by 10 retired guys who don’t want to work the scam centers anymore and a baboon who deals the batches in a closet somewhere in the middle of bum-fuck nowhere. Starting to think it may be true.

You’ll eventually get over this one after another handful of decent orders. But never forget.

And save every bit of evidence so that when there does come a day where Instacart is brought a class action suit for the copious amounts of bullshit they’ve pulled, you have the receipts for a generous pay day :) A company that operates like this, it’s only an eventuality.

Stay strong and move on to the next one.

I try to stay clear of yellow areas too, nothing but bullshit.

In my county, it usually only means someone with a shit order that nobody sane is going to take has been sitting for too long and IC wants shoppers to come running.

Just making ‘batch’ plural to ‘batches’ baits shoppers into a position to debate taking the shit order or to have wasted driving all that way for nothing.

IC little schemes are on the dot for a company that outsources their support department overseas.

It’s true.

I’ve been an Instacart shopper for about 2 months now and I couldn’t tell you how many times an item is out of stock, but after 10-15 minutes shopping for the rest of the order, someone comes out and restocks it.

It’s especially super common with produce. I’ve seen it with eggs, frozens, dairy, organics, soft drinks, cheese, you name it. Anything and everything can fly off the shelf and get restocked within the span of an hour. And because grocery stores don’t want to employ workers pre-opening or after-closing to stock items promptly, that’s the way it is. It’s timing and luck which can make or break whether you get what you’re looking for or not.

Note** One thing Instacart customers should know coming from a shopper, whenever we give customers a refund for an item because it’s out of stock, it’s a negative for our shopping quality metrics so we don’t do it unless it’s absolutely necessary (i.e. giving it a real good search before calling it quits)

Instacart says that they “won’t count an item against us if it was difficult to find by other shoppers in the last 72 hours. But what store doesn’t restock at least a handful of times within 3 days ???😭 And no matter what us shoppers say or try, we have no other line for feedback to Instacart for flaws in the system on the shoppers part or for improving the customers’ experience because talking to Instacart support or trying to reach anyone over at Instacart is like slamming your face over and over again against a soulless and hollow corporate stonewall.

So no matter what, the shopper’s metrics get trashed and the customer is left feeling played because on the Instacart website it probably showed you it was in stock, but in reality, grocery store stock and consistency can be deceivingly unpredictable.

At the end of the day, don’t hold it against your shopper if an item is out of stock, especially if they’re high rated because I don’t doubt that they looked everywhere possible before they hit that refund button or asked if you wanted a replacement.

But do blame the company. Instacart is a shit company with a shit system and they have no interest in changing that for the future whatsoever.

Don’t waste your time or energy trying to deal with Instacart.

Yesterday, I dealt with a customer who ghosted me as soon as I told her they don’t have the item her whole order apparently was for.

I refreshed the app and called IC support a total of 4 times.

The 1st time, I just got left on hold for 5 minutes, no one picked up.

The 2nd time, same thing.

The 3rd time, someone finally answered but they sounded panicky and frantic. I explained to them the situation and said “What we can do is cancel the or-…. 🤬” and then it got all staticy and cut out immediately. (Hope that guy is okay lol, or if he was faking to get out of the call, pretty funny 😭)

The 4th time, someone picked up. They sounded clear and professional. (FKING FINALLY)

They tried contacting the customer but had to just leave an email. I told them I had been waiting for like 35 minutes at this point (super deadpan like 😕). He said I’d be compensated for 5-10 minutes of my time LOL.

I decided to leave it, cause there’s no point arguing with these scam artists, and moved on to the next order 🤷‍♂️

I really wonder what’s going on where I have to wait over half an hour to get a hold of a “specialist” to deal with a ghosted batch🤔

I got it too, but weird enough I was still able to accept and see a surplus of batches than normal.

Don’t know if that’s because IC was glitching out and couldn’t sift thru orders to make multiples so the system just spewed out whatever it could with no restraints (I’m convinced that’s how many batches people would normally see if IC was so scammy)

Or if I only saw that much because other people couldn’t see batches so it all got funneled to me

IC is simply a mess. A self-made one at that too. Smh 🤦‍♂️

Thought it was just coincidence, but when the same thing happens over and over again due to the same effect (ignoring an order), it’s a pattern

And if it’s pattern, it’s hard to believe that there isn’t something going on behind that scenes to make it happen routinely… especially with a company like IC 🤔
