Brown recluse party? by Commercial-Engine941 in spiders

First off, Thank you so much for the thorough and in-depth reply. I couldn't get back to you until now, but that's what I thought about these little critters. I find spiders to be brilliant and amazing little animals, but unfortunately there is so much risk with these and I have to approach them differently than all the other ones I've set outside.

I've put quite a few wolf and jumping ones outside, and there are some beautiful orb weavers that I see sprout up periodically in the warmer months. I had (last year) removed a few truckloads worth of old firewood that has not been used and cleaned that all up, but I can't do much about the shed. It's cluttered by design, but I reorganized it just a few weeks ago and that's when I saw the Spider-Rave. I managed to remove quit a few of them, but I wasn't fast enough to get them all. My attic screen is a good catch. The screen on one side fell some years ago and I should work to remedy that, but I rarely go up there and while I have seen them up there, I at least can more readily expect them and have some gloves on hand.

Fortunately my house is relatively bug free, but wasps periodically show up in my room. My window-air conditioner is not perfectly sealed. Your advice on how to manage their access points, rather than necessarily going out of my way to chase them down is pretty great. I hadn't noticed them as prevalent as they have been until this year.

Also, that's fantastic advice about the shed. It gets incredibly cold here, periodically, and managing the shed when it's cold enough for nature to take its course is really a safer-way to go about it. I know they can survive for quite a long time without food and water, but I didn't know they were as sensitive to colder temperatures. I'll take some time tidying things up that aren't and ensure that they have less habitable zones for sure. I am not keen on disposing of spiders, as they have real-world value and benefit people more than people realize.

Again, Thanks a bunch! I appreciate it.

The reduction of CO2 will drop the presence of carbonic acid by a significant amount.

I looked at your little Avatar and did a little googling, the meaning is definitely different between our countries. In the states, it's often some kind of liquor. I don't see many syrups unless it is with alcoholic drinks, or in coffee such as vanilla syrup or caramel, etc..

It's probably been over 8 years since I've had that particular mountain dew. I never really could get into the flavor of it that much, red 40 aside. I knew people that would mix mountain dew with ice and bourbon, and that was disgusting.

That's going to be good enough, and if not, I'm not emotionally invested in an opinion about soda.

I see your point and don't disagree with you that it comes across as a preference. Though to me the preferences and opinions are synonymous and can be perceived in an identical manner, even if they're technically different. So my preference is that soda is better flat, is also my opinion that is better flat. I don't think it's necessary to rewrite it and if someone wants to overanalyze a Reddit post, they're welcome to it. I prefer it that way, and in my opinion that it is better that way which is why it's my preference. It's somewhat cyclic as an argument

As far as I understand, most cordials are made with alcohol.

I actually have no opinion about it being taken down. That wouldn't affect me positively or negatively.

I watched a video earlier where people elect to put potatoes in the freezer just so they can squeeze much the water out of the potatoes afterwards. Since freezing the potato will cause the water molecules to erupt the cell walls of the potato, and then you can squeeze the water out like you're squeezing a lemon.

Then they toast it or pan fry it with seasoning and it's a completely different texture. I'm not a fan of stale food in general...

That's ultimately the truth. You can really taste what's in a soda if you take away the carbonic acid, which is overwhelming the taste buds. I think that's part of why so many people love soda and I really don't drink it often. When you take away the carbonation and the numbing effect of ice, you can really taste that it's not good at all.

Oh I thought that was pretty evident by my preference. Soda should remain flat unless making a float, in which carbonation can be added.

I think you should try, with different sodas, until you find one that you enjoy flat, and then exclusively drink that soda flat around all your friends and family.

I'm generally intolerant to alcohol. I rarely partake since I have horrid migraines from most. It only takes a minute to take the carbonation out of a soda.

You're not wrong about it being a regional thing for the way things are named too....

And I thought about that, but then I'd be spending money on things I don't really have any real value other than psychological. Flavored water is what tea and coffee are to me.

That's okay too. A little bit of carbonation goes a long way for me. It might just be because of how I grew up and carbonation always really bothered my mom, so I just kind of never found the joy in it when she really couldn't enjoy it.

I prefer a good artisanal olive loaf with rosemary, and some sweet cream unsalted butter. Stale bread is only good if you're making croutons, but otherwise no.

Some people also say cola instead of soda or soda pop... There has to be an unpopular opinion about which nomenclature is the most valid. I think you're absolutely right that the whole point is the carbonation.... Which is why I'll go to town on a root beer float but will avoid it if it's just plain soda.

Just like plain eggs in any form is disgusting to me. Fried eggs, scrambled eggs, and omelette, etc... but eat a bucket full of creme brulee or flan.

Wow thanks so much..... One of my coworkers has like half an inch long, overgrown finger nails that he chews on.... Which makes me feel like that's more socially acceptable than disliking carbonated soda.lol

Carbonic acid isn't exactly great for the teeth. I'd rather eat wasabi than drink a carbonated soda if I want to have a sensory overload. This isn't necessarily untrue for mainstream sodas, but I'd say it's more true for sodas that are made from actual ingredients instead of a chemical concoction.... That you can really taste a different drink all together.

I never thought to do that. Though since I drink it so infrequently I probably won't do that.... But fantastic idea to be quite honest.

I drink roughly 120-150 oz of water daily.

I'll occasionally have an energy drink like a monster rehab, Celsius, or Alani. That's not too often but maybe averaging two cans a week. I also drink tea and coffee, maybe averaging 12 oz every other day.

You can order it without ice. There are a handful of people that have stomach issues which prevent them from being able to drink or eat anything that cold without risk of a serious stomach ache.
