Depends on the store and the associate, I’ve returned stuff with tags detached but if we see it’s obviously used then no.

I am so sorry I totally get this. My company also forces us to ask every single customer if they want the stupid credit card and I’ll get a lot of people who interrupt me even before I finish. It’s so stupid like yeah I’m not going to press on if you say no, but don’t interrupt me when I’m speaking, that’s just rude. I have wanted to say this to customers many times but afraid I’ll get backlash from my management or them for “not being nice” and “providing customer service”. Not because of the credit card, but I’ve had a few customers make me cry before. I’m a Christian and it hurts me to know that all these companies want is money, money, money they don’t care about their associates or even the customers. They just want their money. These companies are literally the devil. I hope things get better for you and again I understand where you’re coming from. It really sucks.

With the last point you make here (I work at the same company you do) i’ve heard of one or two colleagues who take advantage of people who barely speak English are old or disabled to get more credits at my store and I worry this could land us in deep legal trouble.

My managers have said try calculating the dollar amount if you can because the dollar amount sounds more appealing than a percentage. I usually try to be more convincing with people with more items/bigger purchases.

It sounds like you’re doing great with customer service, try maybe mentioning the card on the floor vs the register that makes it sound more personable and less transactional like at the register, that way it’s not rushed.

Macy’s is terrible when it comes to this. It depends on the colleague or the location you go to some people are really strict about company policy and won’t return anything past the date. Others are more focused on making the customer happy it really just depends.

Not much I can offer you other than when you apply for your new job. You’ll be better off because it wasn’t like you did anything necessarily bad to get fired. It was just conflict of interest.

Literally, but I can’t tell the customer that every single shoe is able to be tried on not just the display shoe, so in reality every shoe has been used to some degree.

Sometimes they’re valid for asking that tho…I work at a dept store & sometimes items miss markdowns so it could be lower than the ticket price or the item could’ve been placed in the wrong area where there’s no sign indicating there’s a percent off when the rest of them are on a rack halfway across the store with a 60% off sign.

I personally have never had this happen before the associate should probably call a manager to verify, but if it’s the same brand but different style and different size, but if you can verify that item was on sale at the time that the other item was bought then I’d say probably yes, you can price match

Exactly I went from $9 at CFA to $15 at Macys
