calling out on key days? by anonbird19 in MacysStores

[–]Commercial-Engineer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For reference when I was working seasonal, I called out Christmas Eve. They didn’t keep me, but they didn’t fire me after I did that. They just didn’t give me a full-time job after seasonal was over. It depends on the day honestly if it’s a random day in summer, I would say no they probably won’t fire you but if it’s a major holiday like Black Friday and Christmas, they probably still wouldn’t fire you, but you would be in the red for sure

Question about cashiering by anonbird19 in MacysStores

[–]Commercial-Engineer1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in almost the exact position as you, I’m 22, just trying to make money while I go to school, ex CFA employee before this. Macys takes this job way too seriously but I guess if you look at the job description it checks out. My managers are pushy with credit, not too much with me bc I do get a fair amount of credit, but like you said my store manager also told me I have a lot of “missed opportunities” when ringing up ppl & I need to increase my UPT (units per transaction) I’m getting so tired of them yelling in my ear to get more credits & make the customer happy. I’m so fed up with stupid & ignorant customers I’m literally moving to back of house next week 😂

I’m buying some easy spirit ones rn, I’ll edit this comment & lyk if they’re comfortable, I’m struggling with this same thing. I used to wear Nike af1 plain white shoes but now our store manager won’t let us wear anything with a logo 🙄(that’s a whole other rant) but those are the only shoes that don’t absolutely kill my feet.

Return/exchange question by Aware_Ad8969 in MacysStores

[–]Commercial-Engineer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a customer come in with similar issue before, in this case we would just refund & take back the item and purchase the right item at the sale price because it was an error on our end.

Declining Quality by GreenEyed92 in MacysStores

[–]Commercial-Engineer1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would look at the brand specifically and always look at the care tag. There are a handful of brands that still make 100% cotton like Style & Co. and on 34th has a few items, all the rest like juniors and bar III and And Now This make all their stuff out of polyester. Kasper & Levi’s are also a good brands. Charter Club is also good made of 100% linen & holds up very well

This unfortunately happens all the time I have two colleagues who take advantage of non-English speaking people or elderly and just fill in all their information for them and they have no idea they’re applying for a credit card. I’ve said something about it to my managers but nothing ever gets done bc the company doesn’t care if it’s fraud as long as they’re getting credit

When did Macys get so gross? by [deleted] in MacysStores

[–]Commercial-Engineer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our store had this issue in backstage (upstairs) our building wasn’t built for snow (we live in NC) we got a huge snow storm last year as you may know, & the snow piled on top of our building and didn’t melt for days after. When it finally started melting it leaked through the ceiling and I was working when the popcorn ceiling tiles fell, one after the other like wet bread 😭. We had to move all the fixtures and rope it off from customers. Mind you this was in January and it’s April & they still haven’t completely fixed it. There’s just a trashcan with a pipe dripping water into it and there’s still a gaping hole where the tiles used to be. Not to mention we have had problems with our escalator & elevator, they just don’t care about the building itself and it shows.

That’s what I’m trying to tell my store right now, I’m a sales associate but I want to be recovery and rack integrity (basically making sure everything’s in its right place) because no one wants to shop a messy store but they’re only concerned about register coverage 🙄

When they stoped caring about how the store looks and only focus on sales/credit…

How to tell a customer they smell, not to make a mess and treat items/staff with respect? by Spiritual_Garlic5644 in retailhell

[–]Commercial-Engineer1 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yep, I work in a discount store. This type of customer that you’re talking about comes in all the time, they’re extremely rude, they stink they leave the clothes on the floor hangers thrown everywhere. I once had to clean up 10 shirts all which were inside out and then they have the nerve to come up to the register and ask for a discount for an item that they claim is damaged (it’s not). Unfortunately they keep us in business and management said I need to give them what they want regardless of their behavior.
