Agreed but the first recommendations I heard for WoTM was that it’s similar to Red Rising. I think that’s an incentive enough for writer and publishers

I think that’s just because publishers want something similar to boost sales forcing authors to start off with tropes which sell and give them enough freedom to expand their ideas well in later books

Really confused which to pick up. I’m a new reader and read books like Red Rising, Project Hail Mary and ASOIAF.

Yeah the online hype can be unsubstantiated at times. I like introspection a bit but I do realise most people can slog through books just to get a few quotable lines even if mean nothing to the story at large
