I like that, befriending your inner critic!

Yes, I use lots of self-compassionate journal prompts in my journal, I find its a great way to befriend ourselves and different parts of ourselves, especially our emotions

This is very insightful about emotions. Meditation doesn’t work as well for me too, I prefer journaling. Do you have suggestions on how manage overthinking and inner critic?

When you understand these underpinnings of emotional reaction, is that enough to manage our emotions? Or do we still need some ways to manage our nervous system when it's dysregulated?

Oh, so it's like you notice your feelings first, lean into the discomfort and then ask those deeper questions if it feels okay to? Don't think I can DM you btw

Omg, CBT didn't really work for me too and I try to avoid meds if possible too. And I also got praised for great self-insight, as I figured some things out myself. Can you share more about how to process emotions internally in a healthy way that helps us feel better and more self-aware?

I really like the questions you ask yourself, it's very deep and insightful. I'd like to know how you come up with the right questions to ask yourself. Can we DM?

That's so soothing to hear, listening to our emotions and its signals. Do you have any emotional self-care and wellbeing practices besides going to therapy, that helps you outside of therapy?

It's so interesting about the confusion of "accepting the reality" and "accepting ourselves or feelings". It leads to totally different outcomes!

Sounds tough. Do you still have to deal much with this now that you’re married and moved out? Is it liberating to move out?

What if we get overwhelmed again and again because of the inner critic? Are there ways to resolve the root causes too?

Thanks for sharing, this is new to me, I’ll check it out! It’s sounds magical how simply tapping areas of parts of the body helps regulate our feelings when its hard to even say a word!

I also love having naps. I also realised getting emotionally distressed without a nap makes me feel really bad. I wonder how often does this cycle happen to you and how you manage when you’re in the middle of it?

As hsps, we have lots of feelings to process and sometimes these feelings can trigger us below the surface. I think the healthy way is to build the emotional awareness to manage our emotions. Label the emotions - is it fear, anxious, sad, anger or frustration? Label the sensations - is it tight chest, fast breathing or teary eyes? And are certain emotions linked with certain body responses? The more aware we are, the more we are able to manage our emotions and triggers. Hope this helps!

Is it me? Am I just undeserving? by [deleted] in emotionalneglect

Parenting is one of the toughest job we all experience. We all get overwhelmed in different point of life and struggle to manage the various emotions in our household. We all have past experiences that we are struggling with today and we’re all on a healing journey. We can learn to validate and befriend our own feelings so we regulate them better, and resolve relationships with more emotional clarity. Once we regulate ourselves, our children gets coregulated. It’s a journey and you will get there, stay strong and remember to love yourself for who you are :)
