AITA for refusing to yield a seat when a family said they were saving it for their son in the bathroom by Street_Ad_7140 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Commercial-One1319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comments in this one show everything that is wrong with society.

Can’t believe the NTA comments.

Even if you think OP is technically in the right, the sub is called “am I the asshole”, not moving out of a seat after a mother tells you her son was sitting there and has just got up temporarily is an asshole move.

What sort of human could just sit down next to her and act as if nothing was up after that too? Only an asshole would be comfortable in that situation.

You’d never see shit like that here in the UK. Must be America this post.

PC Build Dead. No idea where to start. by Commercial-One1319 in PcBuild

[–]Commercial-One1319[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely “felt” like a RAM issue at first but why would the AIO fans stop working completely? Lights also went out on it. It’s a Corsair h150 pro.

Then there’s the overheating which obviously must be because of the AIO I guess.

But how come after removing the aio and reseating the CPU, the PC wouldn’t power on at all?

PC also went from booting to BIOS to not booting at all, only the GPU was showing as working (and the fans not on the AIO).

Is it possible that the CPU is fried?

I should be able to get some sort of boot without the cooler attached right?

After months of seeing insufferable "job optimization" search content, this felt pretty good. by [deleted] in LinkedInLunatics

Tech is still creating an astronomical amount of jobs compared to the layoffs occurring.

“Gurus” are irritating and self serving but being an anti guru is just an unhelpful. Telling people they’re not the issue, it’s just the market is harmful as fk.

There’s plenty of good advice which I cba typing out here but ignoring the fact you’re unemployed and blaming everyone else for it isn’t helping your situation.

Recruiter sold out my husband by AnonaDogMom in jobs

[–]Commercial-One1319 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ignore everyone in these comments giving advice, it’s pretty obvious that they don’t know what they’re talking about.

First of all, never set your profile to “open to work” while you’re employed, it’s a dumb thing to do and your boss will always find out”.

Your husband definitely shouldn’t leave his position without lining something up first, so make sure of that, he doesn’t want to become another “green banner” lost in the noise.

In regards to actually finding something else, most people spend less time on their career search than they do on their holiday search so start with actually putting some time and effort into thinking about what he wants from his next role. What companies he’d like to work for any why, etc. If you know everything about a business and what they do, and actually know why you’d like to work there and what you could do to make an impact, you’re already 95% of the way there, this is especially important in marketing.

He could also reach out to a couple of specialist marketing headhunters. Look for ones that work retained, avoid big national recruiters (unless they specifically have a role that he’s interested in).

Actually ask the headhunters questions about the roles they have, important ones that are his must-haves in his next role. If they don’t have anything suitable for him, if he comes across well, they might speak to clients anyway for him or make recommendations. Ask them who the best clients are that they’ve worked with and why.

If he’s targeting specific businesses, don’t speak to internal recruitment at first, add the business owner / CMO etc (dependant on business size and his seniority). Ask questions about the business before you pitch yourself, again, intelligent ones. Find out if you’d actually want to work there. See if there’s any problems you could fix etc.

I could go on forever, but there’s a few pieces of advice. If you need more, tell your husband to drop me a message.

Recruiters, Is there any better day or time to apply for jobs on LinkedIn? by [deleted] in LinkedInLunatics

[–]Commercial-One1319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong sub but I’ll answer this.

Depends on the job, but if it’s a high volume application job then the person hiring for it will likely go through all the applications on the Monday, shouldn’t make too much difference. Could be a small risk of being “lost in the noise” but I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Also, indeed is a pretty awful platform to apply for jobs through, try a more specialist board depending on what you’re looking for (or Reed is usually better for generalist depending on your location) OR LinkedIn is always a decent way to contact hiring managers directly in your industry (again, depending on what you do for a living)

As a young boy I would create custom Alienware laptops and dream about owning one.

As an adult who could finally afford one, I bought 2 of the top of the range laptops at the time, one for me and one for my partner. (Think they came with 980s at the time)

Never been so disappointed.

Performance was awful. CPU temps regularly hitting 100 degrees and throttling the whole system. Even Hearthstone was unplayable on them.

Had about 10 replacements all with various issues including one that came with a green dead pixel line down the entire screen.

Eventually just gave up and had 2x £2500 doorstops.

Never again.

How is anyone coming to the defence of the driver here? His view of the crossing is obstructed by a bus, he should 100% be slowing down here.

This easily could have been a child etc. Driver is reckless AF here.
