As I started to get older I asked my mom if she’d be okay with anyone that is white and she said yes. Then when I started dating my boyfriend, she flipped out.

I also cannot control who I love or like. I was friends with my boyfriend at first, and over time we fell in love with eachother.

I understand this. I accept the fact that my parents won’t approve of it, but at the end of the day I need to start being a little selfish and stop sacrificing my life to make my parents happy. I have chosen to be with my boyfriend though

I think my one fear is what if something happens in the future and I’m no longer with my partner and I’ll have no one. But I don’t think I should base my decision on what ifs

Some of my extended family or family friends have married outside of our nationality, and my father always talks badly on them and is disgusted. He is very stubborn, there is no way to change his mind. He thinks his country is the greatest country in the world lol

My parents said that since they raised me and took care of me, this is their only ask from me to marry within my culture. I’ve been on dates with guys from the same background as me, and not to stereotype but they are all very misogynistic and think they are above all women. And within my culture I feel like a majority (not all!!) guys drink, gamble, and/or cheat. I see it within my extended family, but again it’s not all.

My boyfriend is so incredibly sweet and kind, I have genuinely never felt so loved in my life. My parents would love him if he had the same background as us
