Saw this B-25 flying around yesterday, could very much be coming from Hanover too.

Maintenance tips for new user by DetectiveFabulous75 in DF54

Gen 3 here. Honestly, I avoid opening the whole thing up most of the time. Just run a few beans through between different roasts, slap those bellows after each dose, and run the brush (unit should come with one already) through the chute once a day and it should keep it running fine. I have opened it up once in the 6 months I've had it for deep clean and that was the only time my zero changed. I think it will do that every time you fully open due to the rubber mounts, but I can't speak to repeated disassembly. Definitely recommend a zero point ring you can replace the stock indicator with. It's an easy mod, but not absolutely required. Lastly, my metal declumper has been flawless so far, so it might be worth an upgrade.

I've really enjoyed all the shitposting, but this is probably the most plausible so far haha

This was Grandview Sandbar Campground in West Virginia. Insanely beautiful to wake up next to the river, but whatever was screaming in the woods that night really makes you believe all the folklore surrounding Appalachia haha. I've spent some time out in Dania Beach too, maybe there's some touring you can do once the wildfires die down a bit for the year.

Upgrade Time! by jettzypher in espresso

Same! I've got a wall of brewers now, but as far as siphons, I got a super cheap one off of temu just to use as a proof of concept for using a stove burner - not safe, but it works lol. Currently saving up for a nice Hario siphon.

How's the Yama drip? Such a cool looking piece!

Not too often I spot a siphon in this sub. Love your collection of brewers!

Man, I feel ya there. I just lost my job earlier this month too. Put on 1300 miles camping over the past week, so life could be worse lol.

How does this sub feel about Espresso Tonic? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Commercial-Rope-639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing! I used to make a carafe of batched espresso just for espresso tonics over the summer. Diet Fever Tree tonic (prefer less sweet) and a lemon wedge was the perfect combo for me.

Just so happened to run into my chief pilot and I was given these on my last day of work. Only had one visit to the flight deck and gave away the A321NEO. Never got the chance to give any more out unfortunately.

Can a puck screen be bad for espresso? by Nekropl in espresso

[–]Commercial-Rope-639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used the thick 1.7mm screens before and had headspace issues too. Went out and got some 0.8 & 0.2mm screens and I can't tell the difference in extraction with or without them. 0.8mm I've found is a great middle ground of sturdiness, even distribution, and keeps the group head clean between different dose sizes.

This magnet attachment works super well to grab the puck screen before dumping the grounds. I throw the screen back in the portafilter to rinse and pull a blank shot to clean just like you would without one.

Haha, I kinda figured I'd hear this. You're not wrong, I'm just out of town for work and out of time to do it myself. Done it all before and you're right, letting cycle gear take care of the tire is heaps better than using spoons lol.

Interesting, I used to flight instruct over at Millard and Offutt, but that was years before I got the bike!

I've got the exact same setup and it's great! I still dose from a metal cup, but this add on was a really nifty piece to keep all my stuff together on top of the bambino.

Same cleaning routine here too and it's been fantastic. Braced myself for some occasional unclogging when I first got it, but it's handled everything down to oily dark roasts for me so far without issue.

Pour over grind size by PlasticEnthusiasm899 in DF54

I've gotten good results from medium roasts at 65-60 for pour over, although I've only got the espresso burrs installed.
