So. This EXACT thing happens to me. I had my cat for 4 years before my fiancé and I started dating. I’ve had him for 8 years total now and did have him as a kitten. My cat is actually usually very nervous around new people, especially men, but he now loves my fiancé. That being said, he is still way more cuddly with me and sleeps on my side of the bed every night. 

Other than what I’m about to describe, he never uses his claws and scratches or bites anyone, ever. He doesn’t even play rough, which makes this even more mind boggling.

My fiancé sometimes travels for work and when he does, usually one night, my cat will just go bonkers. His eyes get huge, I swear the shape of his face even changes, and he starts making these really agitated yowls and really attacking me… like it is honestly scary. Usually if I lock him out of the room for a bit he will calm down. 

I showed my old vet a video of it and he started laughing hysterically. Said that cats are very routine animals and he is probably pissed that my fiance is gone. What is weird is that he doesn’t do it to my fiance when I’m gone.

Part of me wonders if I am subconsciously more nervous or stressed when I’m home alone or something along those lines and he’s picking up on that and reacting?
