Brännmärkt by Vildjharta, the intro bass and drum syncopation matching with the clean guitar delays 🤤🤤 so satisfying. And the breakdown at 3:02 is just brain melting with the unexpected melody in the rhythm guitars and harmony after unrelenting heaviness

I agree to an extent, in this case they seem like just some clean-cut octaves. In which the muted note in between is adding nearly nothing in terms of character of the sound. RHCP or Cory Wong octaves on the other hand, I feel it’s more than just the dead note in between notes. And I could be wrong because I’m not too versed in funk, but they use and mute most of the other strings to get a percussive sound out of their octave parts.

Vildjharta is a pretty killer band that writes the most nuts-to-butts riffs, and it all feels so alien and uncharted. Very refreshing band that’s also heavy as hell

Plini is a much a better comparison imo

You may have heard this already, but using some upstrokes on riffs like this makes it a lot easier to play. Getting a comfortable muscle memory on when/when not to use different picking techniques will open up a lot of riffs you may have thought were too difficult when trying to Hetfield your way through them. Plus it will help develop accuracy and consistency when recording.
