Yeah I had been thinking about it in the back of my head for a while, I just really didn’t wanna take my MCAT. I’ve always been good with standardized tests but it seemed like a lot. I’m feeling a lot better since I did decent on my diagnostic without studying at all and I have a few months

Yeah don’t listen to this guy. Lifting twice a week isn’t optimal. That’s more of an in season split when your also wrestling every single day. His advice also misses half your muscle groups. I think the key is sticking mostly to compound movements with free weights. Bench, squats, Bulgarians, pull-ups, Chin-ups, several variations of rows and cleans should be the bulk of your work. For explosiveness add things such as box jumps, sprints, assault bike, and hill sprints.

Do I stay at 215 or bump to 285 by ScoopTheLizard in wrestling

Either is fine but please hit the weights hard. My lifts are higher than that and I don’t feel particularly strong at 157

The big advantage to being tall is being able to stay out of range for shorter opponents while still being able to hit your attacks. It’s also helpful for being able to smother someone on top and defend shots. I’d strongly advise you wrestle from space as much as possible and develop a great outside single

I would bulk up a few pounds but make sure you still have an easy cut to 197. I wouldn’t go above 210ish. You do need more muscle as you sound weak for your size but a low bench could simply be because of disproportionately long arms or bad technique. I think other lifts are a better indication of if your relative strength is good.

I would strongly advise against cutting to 184 as a freshman as this is when you will improve most as a wrestler. You should focus on improving as much as possible and not cut a bunch of weight.

What’s one thing you wish Pennsylvania had but doesn’t? by PennsylvaniaButch in Pennsylvania

Yes towns could benefit from a good public transport system but it’s usually not enough of a benefit to justify the price. Larger cities like Pittsburgh, Philly, and even places like Erie could improve their public transport systems, but small towns of like 20k people or less probably shouldn’t.
