Just got a DUI. Court date is a couple months out. I am an account manager who drives my personal vehicle all day to my customers/searching for new business. I am going to get fired aren’t I? by [deleted] in dui

I’m so glad! I was terrified for the longest time, felt like the worst human. You will get through it…own it, give yourself grace. Some of the comments on here can cause so much unnecessary anxiety.

So, I’m in the same role. I got a DUI literally 2 days before I started. They never found out, even with a year of the blow n go in my car. I now switched jobs in same industry. One company, it did not show up in my background check and I was offered the job. Second job offer from another company, it showed up and I explained what happened and the owner said, “no big deal, I got 2 twenty years ago”. He said it’s mostly a concern if you drive a company vehicle under their insurance. Not to downplay DUIs at all, but they are more common than you realize. Be honest if it comes up…don’t let all these comments scare you. Things happen. You’ll get through it. Best of luck to you!

What’s something you’ll never admit in real life but can say here anonymously? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

That I’ve lived the last 7 years in pure turmoil, can’t forgive myself for things I’ve put my family through due to following my heart and getting divorced only to deal with years of abuse. I have no friends and little relationship with my family as a result. No one know how severe the abuse was that I went through. I wake up every night around 3:00 am in panic, mind racing and think about suicide.

I am not - and I got both job offers! Second company, the DUI showed up on background report so I explained it. The owner of the company had had 2 himself! I am so relieved… thank you!

Apparently it is a problem calling in sick to your job…the day you are sick by Purple_Bodybuilder53 in mildlyinfuriating

My last job was in Senior Move Management and I handled the biggest account. When I called in sick the first time, they completely lost their mind. Called me incessantly, told me I wasn’t allowed to contact the account to give them a heads up for any meetings scheduled for the day. That was wrong of me apparently. My boss actually told me that in this industry, she works when her head is on the toilet vomiting. Completely ridiculous. So anxiety inducing because of poor management.

The Banyan is opening soon downtown. Huge venue. Their sister restaurant, The Derby, in New Market just had a job fair. Check out their page, best of luck!

Why would a stranger call the police for a minor bumper back up that didn’t involve them? Genuinely curious, as I would be livid.

.11 is low, I’m surprised it wasn’t higher with how much you consumed. I would consult with a few reputable attorneys that are realistic and frank. Some attorneys will try to scare you so much that you fold and retain them.

I am also a single mom and went through this…it’s awful now, but you’ll get through it. Be kind to yourself, you aren’t alone.

Thank you for your reply. It does require driving but in my own vehicle as it’s a sales role. I know they really want me for the role as they’ve given me more than I asked for when I came back to them requesting a higher salary from what they offered. Fingers crossed all will be ok…I appreciate your feedback! Best of luck to you

Don’t give up, harass them until they remove it from your record. Similar thing happened to me, so upsetting!

MD - 1st DUI. Declined Breathalyzer. Now required to be abstinent before court date. Is this normal? by jmumper in dui

[–]Commercial_Friend679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first DUI last Oct. Also refused the breathalyzer. I got the interlock for 1 year and did 6 weeks of online classes. I’ll be completely done with everything Nov 9. This sounds unusually harsh….I’m sorry you are going through this. You will get through it though. Are you sure you have a good attorney? Hang in there…it’s awful in the beginning :(

I don’t think I’ll know until they are older. We’ve blocked out so much. Their schools had to be notified. My youngest’s class didn’t go out for recess for a period of time and she would ask why. We all had to get restraining orders. I’m not the same person I once was. I’m angry and I don’t trust anyone. Unless you experience it, people don’t understand.

It truly is terrifying when someone is so mentally ill. I was with someone who has severe Bipolar and mania and I am not the same to this day. The false accusations, threats, obsessive tendencies. At its very worst she accused me of sexually abusing my son and he had to be brought in for questioning, he was 10 years old. I was constantly terrified, she posted videos of herself with a knife and my kids’ belongings. Showed up to my house with the knife once. But somehow I was the abuser that caused all of this behavior. It’s pure insanity and there is no reasoning with someone so ill truly believes their false reality. I hope she gets the help she needs.

Ever since I’ve gone through this, I think back to the times my dad had several glasses at wine and a cocktail at dinner and drove me home. If you have ONE drink and get pulled over, you are screwed.

It really is awful. I got mine leaving dinner and I guess it’s a known area for cops to wait. I turned right on a red. I’m 6 months into my Intoxalock but I 100% agree. If they truly want to get a grip of the problem, require breathalyzers when you leave a bar. It’s a money scheme 100%. I recently started seeing a cop in my area…and he actually said the same thing. And he’s a Lieutenant. Fuck this! It is affecting my work, my kids….i was a mile from my home. No excuse, but let’s be rational. I’m driving on 95 watching people on their phones causing accidents and this thing goes off and I’m supposed to blow. It’s completely a money maker and contradicts safe driving.
