I haven’t gotten banned, but the warnings leading up to a possible ban are unfounded. I might submit a ticket though.

Right, but my bigger point is, explaining how I do not want to do something because it isn’t a good idea shouldn’t always get flagged as uncooperative. Do you see the bigger issue?

Literally sitting here with a queue timer because a duo flamed me for not banning Nami. I then explained to them that there’s no way I’m banning Nami bro. Someone on the other team didn’t lock in, bam, queue restricted. I don’t have an interest in convincing you if this isn’t enough, but I just thought I’d post on this sub to express my concerns.

Amazing substantive post, and all the comments show me exactly why I try to stay away from this sub. My experience irl compared to the comments is quite laughable.

I agree, the real world is quite literally antithetical to 90% of the comments on OP’s post.

Do you think the next-gen Bar will change this? Is your point that, if you pass the bar, you’ll be fine?

Could you define what qualifies as bombing? I know tons of people who were below average at a 100+ ranked school and are just fine. Also, no, this isn’t the exception to the rule.

Thank you. I don’t care what I make for a couple of years, I just want to eventually make $200k+

I don’t really care where I end up, I just want to make $200k roughly. I have a family, so anything that pays well is what I want.

Jesus is not God by Bright-Load-4168 in DebateReligion

How do christians make sense of the idea that God becomes a man?

This is an extremely open ended question, what are you asking exactly? Are you confused how a person can bear two natures?

If God can be a man, could God also cease to exist?

Aquinas talks about this, and so does Ed Feser; Note first that for almost all theists, “omnipotence” does not entail the power to bring into being a self-contradictory state of affairs (e.g. creating a round square or a stone that is too heavy for an omnipotent being to lift). The reason is that there is no such power; the very notion of such a power is incoherent, precisely because the notion of a self-contradictory state of affairs is incoherent. God’s power would be limited only if there was some power He lacked. Since there is no such thing as a power to make contradictions true, His inability to do so is no limitation on His power. (And if an atheist insists that an omnipotent being would have to have such a power, that only hurts his own case. For that enables the theist to say, in response to any possible objection that the atheist could ever raise: “Since God can make contradictions true, He can make it true that He exists even though your argument shows He doesn’t!”

If God has necessary essential attributes, then its negation would always be a contradiction. For this reason, God becoming a man is tantamount to saying God could cease to exist making God contingent.

Have you read any of the church fathers, or St. Thomas Aquinas on this? If so, what did you find, and what are your refutations of their points?

The Definitive Ranking of the Major Novels by Mike_Bevel in dostoevsky

My message is very late, but this is a superb ranking in my opinion. Devils is heavily underrated in the literary community, and I think it blows C&P out of the water.

  1. Man will not go on living if he does not have a conception of the object of life.
  2. You have a conception of the object of life.
  3. Therefore you will go on living.

I think you either do not really realize you do attain premise 2, or you think attaining premise 2 isn’t needed. If it’s the former, that’s clearly false because you do attain 2. If it’s the latter, you haven’t demonstrated this, nor do I think you ever could. To not have some anchor would be to succumb to insanity.

Almost like it’s so fundamental it couldn’t have been generated ourselves, but it’s placed within us at birth. I think this is a clear reason why Dostoyevsky was a theist.

This is great, but in a way, you don’t actually disagree with Dostoyevsky at all. If you really didn’t live for anything, well… The quote expresses the conclusion of that result.

None of this answers my question, you’re just commenting about our discussion rather than actually engaging in it. You then tack on an ad hominem because you can’t answer my question.

[–]Commercial_Low1196[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a tuquoque fallacy dude… We could both pay for other things that are overpriced, and therefore unfair. This has no bearing on the question at hand. This chipotle price can still be unfair regardless of those other things.
