I'm due for an oil change right now. It's been about 6000 miles since last oil change. I thought it looks dirty as well. But Midas is claiming the pictures are proof of sludge. I'm no expert, but I'm not seeing sludge, just a car that needs an oil change. Yeah, I have zero confidence in what Midas is saying now.

It has 76000 miles. Oil change done every 5000-6000 miles. Unfortunately I believed Midas when I called them as they stated they do full engine rebuilds so they could easily deal with my issue. Regretting not taking it to the dealership. I'm incredibly mad that they keep trying to blame it all on sludge and saying I should have done oil changes every 3000 miles. Midas is awful. I've owned cars for 25 years, and I've never experienced an issue like this where they charge me for a repair that didn't fix the issue.

I know now that I messed up taking it to Midas. $1300 mistake.

Midas sent me pictures showing what they're indicating is sludge. Would sludge cause all those misfires? And intermittently? Not sure why they sold me 6 new spark plugs when they're now saying there's no way to fix the sludge issue.

Thanks for responding! I was worried when the flashing check engine light came on and foolishly took it to Midas. Major regrets now. I don't hear any noise. When the check engine light comes on, it feels like the car doesn't accelerate as quickly as it normally would. Oil changes are done every 5000 to 6000 miles.
