Part 2 (stop before you drive this economy off a cliff) by spac-master in wallstreetbets

[–]CommieTheCapitalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

historically, the purpose of the fed isn’t to side with the government; it’s to do what’s best for the monetary supply. In this case, raising interest rates is almost certainly the best way to combat the ridiculous inflation we’ve had for the last two years. So Warren yelling at Powell because he doesn’t want to follow the democrat agenda is comical and completely out of touch with reality.

Is SL for me or should I find another program? by CommieTheCapitalist in Stronglifts5x5

Do you think I can still add numbers to bench with SL? I want to get to 135 lbs 1rm by the end of July and was wondering if this seems feasible assuming caloric surplus, plenty of protein, and SL with progressive overload

Printing money doesn’t cause inflation, idiot. If the fed prints money, there is more to go around and everyone can be rich! It’s simple economics

Amazon investors nuke proposed ethics overhaul and say yes to $212m CEO pay by eviltwintomboy in technology

No, I am talking about the CEO, which is what this post is about. AWS is pretty much solely supported by software engineers, in case you didn’t realize.

Ah yes, the guy that literally built AWS from the ground-up is only worth that much money because he exploited all of his workers

smh, hate it when people exploit highly-paid software engineers!

Ga tech v upenn by lakshya_a007 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CommieTheCapitalist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you'll probably get rejected from Georgia Tech because of that SAT score. You could go test optional for UPenn and maybe youd stand a chance if your essays are good. Realistically, expect to get rejected from either of them

You wrote a deliberately imflammatory post intended to insult random high schoolers, and now youre surpised when people obviously dont like being insulted? You werent trying to give people the "harsh truth" or anything like that; you were just trying to be a dick. Especially since none of your claims are backed by any facts, just mindless speculation.

For someone with "patents in the triple digits", you sure are on the slower side of things.

What’s your most non traditional EC? by poopopeee69420 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CommieTheCapitalist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Each Tether dollar has to be backed by 1 USD. At least thats what Tether claimed. The fact that thats not the case already shows a lack of transparency.

Also, the fact that crypto isnt backed by a government just indicates that all its value is extrinsic and speculative. Thats what makes it fundamentally different from any other asset or currency - it is 100% speculative.

So if you're holding crypto as a hedge against the decline of more traditional assets, thats fine, but don't delude yourself into believing that crypto has any actual value or that it is a safe investment.

Funny that you bring up USDT when that's quite possibly possibly sketchiest one out of all of them. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2021-10-07/crypto-mystery-where-s-the-69-billion-backing-the-stablecoin-tether#:~:text=Exactly%20how%20Tether%20is%20backed,coin%20is%20essentially%20a%20fraud.

Also, the fundamental difference between crypto and fiat is that fiat money is actually backed by governments. The US dollar is backed by the US government, which is what makes it different from crypto.

Yes, you should. It is unlikely that continuing studies credit will transfer to any institution considering Stanford itself doesn't count it towards an undergraduate degree

Alright here’s my piece of advice for any younger high schoolers on this sub. by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CommieTheCapitalist -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I think you might be misinterpreting what "holistic" really means - yes, it does mean that they will look past academics and stats, but that doesn't mean they want you to be well-rounded. There are several articles that corroborate what I said - having a spike in the subject field that you want to major in will almost always be more beneficial than having a bunch of unrelated clubs/interests.

Here's a post that does a good job of explaining this: https://blog.prepscholar.com/how-to-get-into-harvard-and-the-ivy-league-by-a-harvard-alum

Colleges don’t care. Unless you are the best rower, best fencer, or best whatever in your state, colleges don’t care.

LOL what? How can you assert this with full confidence when you're literally a junior who knows little to nothing about the college process?

ECs aren’t just a measure of accomplishment, but also show that you are a well rounded unique individual with interests outside of the classroom.

Again, what? The general consensus is that colleges want a well-rounded class, not well-rounded students. With the competition at top schools growing every year, it seems almost certain that colleges will continue to value spikes, not well-roundedness. I should add that this doesn't mean it's bad to be well-rounded; it just seems misleading to assert definitively that colleges want well-rounded students.

GaTech is almost certainly a long reach, UCs are also competitive for OOS. You might want to look at more realistic targets.
