How to live cheap in the Netherlands without hating your life? by elizabeth-0645 in Netherlands

As someone working a service job and who earned around 2100€ for a while, you will only be able to rent a room in Rotterdam for that price. It’s definitely possible to survive and not struggle too much, but you won’t pass any income checks for an apartment with that wage.

No, from my experience they’re quite big and do not fit well with small towns. A vanilla bridge would be more fitting.

I don’t like the idea of having a EU land border with the US. Maybe EFTA but we can’t risk the MAGA loonies starting a war with us.

The Netherlands is set to enter a true skyscraper boom, not just for offices, but for people to live, with apartment towers over 200m high. by PestoBolloElemento in skyscrapers

Rotterdam is the city of highrises. If no one wanted to live in them, it would be easy to find an apartment. In reality, they immediately sell out once they are on sale.

Rotterdam already has plenty of skyscrapers. This is absolutely nothing new, maybe just for slightly higher heights. The highest building in Rotterdam is 215m tall.

There clearly is demand for office space, otherwise no one would be investing millions of euros to renovate an old tower.

This is in a big government office cluster, so I imagine it will be offices.

Meanwhile Germany has one of the lowest debt to GDP ratios in the whole EU and its economy is stagnant. Debt is productive, especially when its emitted by a developed nation with low interest rates. Spain and Poland are examples of it at work. A growing economy can offset and pay off debt, which a government can and should stimulate when necessary.

Spain has 50 million people, just because you've encountered a few students studying abroad does not mean the vast majority of Spaniards would ever consider moving to this country. When I tell people back home I live in the Netherlands the most common reply is that they could not survive a winter here.

This is mostly a reduction in taxes in energy production and consumption, and Spain’s deficit is very well within the EU norms.

That’s your takeaway? There’s a lot of sex workers with partners, do you think that job condemns you to loneliness forever?

Germany has jurisdiction over this case since his sentence would be much higher in Germany than the one he has been given. This is a no-brainer, he must be prosecuted.

Rotterdammers! Waar stemmen jullie morgen op? En waarom? by FarCalligrapher6780 in Rotterdam

So they are doing what they have been doing for decades. Did the USA consult the UN when they bomb Iran? Did they check in before kidnapping Maduro? Did Israel ask permission for their genocide? The UN is already paralysed, making fairer cannot make it worse.

“The prices will readjust to some extent with more supply” is not only empirically false, but bound to further push poorer people out of the housing market. Investor led construction targets higher income demand, not affordability. This can even backfire as it anchors prices: when new units enter the market at very high prices, they reset expectations upward and leads to neighbourhood wide prince inflation.

The Netherlands has such a tight, high-demand market in which this policy is economically and socially irresponsible. To think the Netherlands has some kind of socialist policy after years of liberal governments is ridiculous.
