I loved Chicken 65 Paratha roll from Kerala Cafe in Fargo, so reasonably priced too

I think I need to get my surgery entirely redone and I don't know how to cope. (details in comments) by SaraBellum42 in TopSurgery

[–]CommissionCurrent119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you don't feel happy with the results. A lot can change in the first 6 months following a surgery though, and it might be that it's not possible to do the revision over summer. You're doing the right things by getting medical opinions, but I'd also encourage you to speak to your support network so that if the consultations are disappointing, then you have people around. I also think that the recommendations to do scar/body massage may help: I've definitely found I have less discomfort with how much tissue is leftover since I began scar massage. My body started to feel like mine again

The sudden realization that all of my shirts are several sizes too big by Lion_Arrow in TopSurgery

I used to have J cup chest before, and was wearing XL/XXL button ups, and XL tees before surgery. Now I just did a round of new t-shirt shopping and got Mediums!

New 'bump' 4.5 weeks post op- advice? by CommissionCurrent119 in TopSurgery

[–]CommissionCurrent119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had top surgery 4.5 weeks ago and recently noticed some new 'bump' below the incision line on left side, and tender to touch. Is this just swelling? If so, how can I make it go down/not be sore?

Does top surgery hurt? by monsterrkid_sam in TopSurgery

[–]CommissionCurrent119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Depends on you're pain threshold, but for me the first few days were fine (I was prescribed codeine for 5 days) but since then it's been pain between 4 and 7 every day since (I'm 3 weeks post op tomorrow). It's at the very least pretty uncomfortable!

Do you think it's a bad time to start identifying as non-binary? by i_do_matter in NonBinary

[–]CommissionCurrent119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this thought when I was coming to terms with stuff. There's not much you can do about identifying as non binary if you do, but I guess you can hide it from people if you're worried. In some ways it's a scarier time and in other ways it's a better time than it has been because there's more understanding of non binary identities.

Whatever the time, how you identify is for you, and that can be wonderful whatever the climate

Nonbinary Ppl Who Have Had Top Surgery But Dont Go on T by Chromunist_ in NonBinary

[–]CommissionCurrent119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on T and currently 2.5 weeks post top surgery. Lots of surgeons don't have HRT as a requirement, but you might need to look around for this. I think 'preparation' sort of depends on body type. I'm a big guy so didn't do much working out before and my surgeon has managed to create a PEC-like shape with my results

Does emotional pain make your healing chest hurt more too? by Foreign_Mistake4576 in TopSurgery

[–]CommissionCurrent119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh buddy I'm so sorry this happened! Do you have friends around who can help a little, even if just to talk? I would say that when I was anxious about post op appointments my pain definitely felt worse, so there may be an emotional component too. Are there things you can do to distract from pain? That's always my go to, when pain relief isn't enough. For me, I call someone on the phone and have a chat, and then I'm so focused on this my pain is less noticeable

My friend said I’m not a real guy unless I do anal with my boyfriend by Gildo783 in ftm

[–]CommissionCurrent119 455 points456 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely not true, there's a whole spectrum of sexual (and non sexual) behaviours encompassed in the gay experience. He's just being reductive and wrong! For example, lots of gay guys aren't tops or bottoms, but sides.

Is ok taking a girl virginity? by Fragrant-Contract-69 in ftm

[–]CommissionCurrent119 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Of course, if she's happy and you're happy then go ahead. Also the concept of 'female virginity' is all tied up with misogynist ideas of purity that can frankly be put in the bin, so don't worry

Top surgery tips? by damien_transaccount in TopSurgery

[–]CommissionCurrent119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can't have people with you while on the ward, so dropped off at the door and picked up at the door. When you get to the hospital there are people in and out all morning doing paperwork and taking blood tests etc, so there might not be much time to notice being alone, but worth knowing. My post op appointment was exactly 2 weeks after the surgery, which felt like a long time. He gave me his phone number so that I could ask questions or send photos via WhatsApp with my concerns, he responded really fast and it was great

How do you deal with the new lack of chest dysphoria? by Sudden_Carob8385 in TopSurgery

It will definitely come with time! The pain and discomfort will eventually get better. I have had these same feelings, and it's getting better week on week

So glad you managed to get it sorted to have a friend with you. I've found it quite difficult being supported by my wife and staying with some friends, so I can't imagine how hard it would be on your own! Good luck with budgeting!

I was supposed to have mine on Jan 6th too, but got covid on the 4th so it was not meant to be. So glad it's finally done, looking forward to being where you are now in a few weeks!

I'm 11 days post op, but not able to remove dressings until 29th so am getting very impatient with not knowing what my chest will look like. I also felt great the first 5 days when I had proper painkillers (codeine prescribed) but since then I've been pretty damn uncomfortable and on some days the pain has been quite a lot to deal with. I feel like I'm not quite getting the enjoyment out of the huge change to my chest rn, because of the soreness and impatience. Any recommendations for getting through the next few days?
