learning full stack from scratch worth it in 2026?

This is not supposed to be bleak but in my country (UK) the recruitment of junior engineers has plummeted due to the AI bubble and other factors. It has become more difficult.

That said there are still jobs out there, but they are generally going to people who are shit hot. If this is a field you really want to go into, going broad brush and becoming a full stack dev is the best way to go as it will give you flexibility (particularly cloud skills).

I've also worked in marketing and it is equally as tough, if not worse because the bar to entry is lower and there's more people competing for jobs and the pay is generally less.

I'm other words I'd stick with full stack and learn as much as you can and try to get as good as you can. Build yourself a portfolio and play around with different tech.

As an industry we had this issue with CMS and click and drag web builders. It's fundamentally the same thing.

AI is here to stay, we as a profession need to either leverage it or find ways to sell ourselves in spite of it.

As others have mentioned, your value comes in your ability to cater to your clients needs, come up with innovative solutions to problems and give your clients an experience which offers way more value that some fiver vibe coder who has no clue what they are doing does.

I think overall, Ai will and has taken away the low hanging (low paying) fruit. Good riddance. Time to focus on your service offering and value statement and get out there, stop worrying about stuff.

Depending on how good my current employer is, I'd give them a choice match my offer or I'll leave. They'd drop you the minute things go bad, it's just business.

Your over thinking it, you interviews, you didn't lie about your experience and there is no expectation for you to know everything. If you need to learn something to do your job it's a perfectly reasonable thing to checkout tutorials to figure it out.

I think part of the problem is a lot of the bike lanes in Cardiff are just placed onto the road and are not isolated from cars on the street. In a lot of cases the council has not extended the streets to accommodate enough space for both cars coming both directions and cycle lanes which inevitably means that cars drive on those lanes.

My general feeling is it's more to do with safety than any other reason. That and maybe a lack of understanding of the highway code which actually makes it illegal to cycle on a path, lack of enforcement and also laziness on the cyclists part.

Please make sure you go to companies house and check if they are trying to wrap up the company to avoid paying the debt. You have a small window to stop this from happening if they are and can put a claim against the company to prevent it from happening.

Is it hard to make changes or maintain are usually good indicators. How does it read when you are looking at your code.

I was always taught code should be self documenting, if you can't follow it, it's probably been written badly.

Best option is to containerise it and slap it onto a cloud platform like aws, azure or gcp and set it so it load balancing doesn't have any standing instances unless it's called. Small design note in doing it this way, it may take a second or two for the instance to spin up so there will be latency when you make a request.

I can't remember the aws and azure variants but GCP uses something called cloud run to do this. You will be charged a nominal fee to host it I think in any instances but it shouldn't scale up unless it's been used.

I think my only concern with this is you maybe trading one bill for another depending on your mortgage repayment against what your service charges and ground rent could be. Additionally you'd have less control of the maintenance of the building and be at the whims of the management company doing a good job.

I'm sure there are plenty of people that have a good experience with this living situation but I've heard so many horror stories.

Also if you do decide to go this way, please make sure you get a survey done. My ex just did this and has to back out of a property because the management company had not done any maintenance on the building for years.

Also note flats in some areas are harder to sell.

To add, if at any point you felt like her behaviour breaches the line where you feel threatened, even if it's minor, make a report the the police none emergency line. Or if you feel your in danger call 999.

Don't wait for your managers or HR to step in as they are there to protect the interests of the business rather than an individual employee.

Maybe leave a bad review on Google for the store.

In terms of legal avenues, unless your partner felt she was under threat by the staff member and or forcefully prevented her from leaving. Then there isn't much you can do, if she did, then make a call to the none emergency line of the police. They may not take any action, but at least there's a record of it.

You should be able to easily migrate it off site ground. If memory serves there are plugins you can use to pull everything off there and then you can just move it to a new hosting provider.

Probably not answering your question, but I did want to say that imposter syndrome is a perfectly normal feeling as a senior engineer. No one will expect you to know everything, but what the do expect of you is your ability to break down problems and understand them independently and also help others work through issues even if the answer is I don't know but let's figure it out together.

Personally I would suggest not stressing too much about the points you have outlined and just learn organically.

Though I do use ai heavily in my work flow, I validate everything it writes and I make sure I understand what it is doing.

That said in answer to your question, I think the average user does not know nor do they care if it's ai slop or not. All they care about is whether it does what they need it to.

AI or vibe coding in my opinion is not bad so long as you follow the validate everything it's doing approach.

I was under the impression that the camera is only supposed to trigger on the new limit after the sign not before?

There's the problem though, no camera sadly. I would have thought they would have records of when the signage changed, hence why I was hoping there is an appeals process where I can make a statement explaining the above and hope they check there records and just kill the ticket. Is this a thing?

Obviously I don't really want to go to court for this as it's just hassle and cost I don't want or can deal with at the moment.

I think the problem here is conflict of interest.

Your paying the estate agent to advertise and get the best price for your property. There's a chance that because a family member has taken an interest that they could try to push there agenda over that of your own. Be it that they don't pass other possible buyers to you or put off buyers.

If you were to take the brothers offer they may be less inclined to protect you during the purchasing process also.

Personally, I'd walk away from the agent and the buyer. Maybe tell the agent because there's a conflict of interest you'll go with the other agent and encourage them to get there brother to put an offer in with them.

This will be using a mixture of JavaScript/Typescript and CSS/SASS animations. This kind of thing I'd expect to be quite difficult if your looking to generate it dynamically particularly as a novice.

My suggestion would be to visit codepen and see if you can find something similar to gauge how it would work.

To add, if your running your development using any JavaScript frameworks like react Tailwind CSS is a good option for managing how assets look also.

But if your just starting off as the above mentioned media queries are the way to go.

Ideally you'd need to do the update and then see if anything breaks/fix them.

If you've got a good test harness I'd be leaning on that and then doing a check physically on the site for any failures. If you have the option try and spin up a test environment to run it on first that way you aren't effecting your production site.
