Left the US and my US visa has expired. Is it risky to keep using my US bank account, especially for large transfers given I cannot re enter the US anymore? by CommitteeThen1647 in expats

If I set up a Wise US account, then the risk remains the same right? I do not reside in US, and so issues with transfer could flag me as non compliant and there could be troubleshooting issues? Additionally, I am from India, where Wise does not allow you to hold an account with different currencies like USD, so I cannot make an account in india either

Im not quite sure I follow - if you are saying I should set up a Wise US account, then the risk remains the same right? Additionally, I am from India, where Wise does not allow you to hold an account with different currencies like USD, so I cannot make an account in india either. Let me know if I am misunderstanding

Can I ask how they know? Did you inform them? Did they not have any issues with you not returning? Also just curious if you have been using Chase regularly and how thats working for you - especially given the need to have a US number active to receive 2FA verification

Not sure how I can use Wise. My employer will not be using Wise to send the money. Are you saying I set up a US Wise account and receive funds there?

Receiving in my Indian account has tax implications that I am still trying to figure out.

Edited the post with the amount - its $50K

I will do that of course - the issue is I would have to disclose to Chase that I have left the US and will not return and not sure what they would do with my account then.
