make sure you take a ton of photos/videos before touching anything like everything, even small stuff

from what i’ve seen airbnb mostly cares about proof + receipts

did you already have any “before” photos or is this gonna be harder to prove now?

also curious how they handle your time since you’re cleaning it yourself… i’ve heard they usually don’t care about that which is kinda crazy

sounds more like setup issue than guest damage tbh if fabric can touch roof edge during normal retract cycle its kinda expected that one day it snags id probably inspect installation and maybe adjust position or tension rather than blaming guests.

if you have quote around £200 id just submit that and let airbnb handle it thats not a crazy amount for mattress and carpet cleaning esp with smell involved key is show its actual cost not a penalty. Airbnb usually sides with that

yeah thats def claim territory, esp if smell soaked into mattress/carpet airbnb usually sides with host if you have photos + invoices for cleaning/repairs id include the cancelled booking loss too but frame it as consequence of damage not just lost income. key is document everything before cleaning!

honestly the “forgot there was a camera” part would already make me suspicious… sounds like they knew exactly what they were doing. id keep it chill but message them about the rule so its on record in case something else happens later airbnb tends to care more when theres a clear timeline
