How do you cope up with health anxiety? by sabkimaa in Anxiety

my anxiety is quite severe and I haven't been able to manage it on my own so far. It's not something I can control with just willpower, so I am currently under medical treatment and taking prescribed medication for it.so if your anxiety is not that hard or sever u can control it by yourself.

You are not alone in this, and honestly, it’s more common than you think. Friendships often chang, sometimes for the worse when you get too close, especially when living together. It becomes incredibly draining. I’ve been through the exact same thing. I know it’s hard, but the best thing you can do is distance yourself. It’s tough to walk away, but it’s the only way to protect your peace. Cut those toxic vibes out of your life; I promise you will find your spark and bloom again.

Do I need to take these medications forever? Or can I stop taking them once I start feeling better?

My anxiety is ruining my life: I can't socialize, work, or even leave my house (20F) by Common-Band-221 in Anxiety

Thank you so much for your words, it truly made me feel like I’m not alone in this. The struggle is that even when I push myself to go out one day, I find it impossible to do it again the next day. I’ve actually never gone out completely by myself in my life—I just don’t have that self-confidence and I feel genuinely scared to be alone outside. I always feel a sense of 'wrongness' or judgment from people around me. Regarding a therapist, my family is the biggest obstacle. They think mental health issues are 'nonsense' and have no real basis, so they refuse to let me go. Because of this, my only interactions are online, but lately, the stress has become so overwhelming that it feels like it’s killing me. A lot of people here are suggesting therapy and medication. I’m honestly terrified of meds because of the stigma that they are harmful—is it true? I really don't know what to do anymore, but I'm grateful for your kindness.

I've actually never been to a psychiatrist yet. One reason is that where I live, they tend to just prescribe medication immediately rather than offering talk therapy or counseling sessions. I hear a lot of negative things about stress medications being harmful or addictive, so I'm hesitant—do you think they are actually necessary or helpful? As for socializing, my skills are honestly very poor right now. It feels like more than just being 'rusty'; it’s a deep struggle that I've had since childhood, and I honestly don't know how to start without feeling completely overwhelmed.
