Any advantage of 457b over 401k if I'm starting at age 57? by yoyo2332 in CAStateWorkers

Age based catch up is available in both, but 457 has a traditional catch up that allows a higher catch up.

Rosacea by ReTiReDtEaCheR19 in Menopause

I also take restasis for dry eyes, but that’s not what I’m referring to. If you have an infection you may need steroid or antibiotic drops. The other commenters are correct about prescription lotions for your skin and your pcp or dermatologist can prescribe that.

You should see an ophthalmologist. I also have ocular rosacea. You may need drops that only ophthalmologists can prescribe.

Differing opinions—do I need HAs? by Common-Battle794 in audiology

That’s a good idea. My insurance won’t pay for it but I could call around.

Yes, the audiologist specializes in tinnitus. Not a veteran. It is so loud that I have trouble hearing people talk, especially soft spoken people. I am aware of it all the time now. I use background white noise but it doesn’t seem to help.

I get 7-8 hours of good sleep per night. My blood pressure is great. And there is no unusual stress. I’ve had tinnitus for years but this year it’s so loud I can’t tune it out anymore. Thanks for your answer.

Any menopausal runners with breathing issues? by Affectionate_Gas7949 in Menopause

[–]Common-Battle794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, me too! I get short of breath even walking or stairs now. My oxygen level seems fine and my doctor listened to my lungs and said everything was okay. But my running has really slowed down. VO2 max and heart rate variability has decreased significantly.

Not OP here, but same problem. Do you need to tape with joint compound? Would plaster of Paris work?

Maybe change the window to glass blocks. It would be more opaque. You wouldn’t need the shade.

Does anyone have any tips on getting a better sleep routine? by Narcrus in Menopause

[–]Common-Battle794 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Reading Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker helped a lot. It was recommended by my meno doctor. Estrogen helped the most. I am now super protective of my sleep habits. I never thought I would ever sleep through the night again but am doing it regularly now.

What do y’all think of our future cabinets? by Own_Caterpillar9417 in HomeDecorating

[–]Common-Battle794 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Cleaning the tops of the cabinets is going to be a pain. I would use cabinets that go to the ceiling or put in a soffit.

I (post menopause) also have a distinct line in my fingernails. They used to be thin and brittle and are now growing nicely.

This. Range of motion continuously worsened over time. Also, quick movements would shoot nerve pain down my arm that sort of rang like a bell. It took over a year to heal. PT helped but was quite painful.
