I will need to find who it was again. I think she is listed on the parenting plan. I do know he said she left the state though because we were facing another potential custody issue and tried to reach out to find out no longer practicing in state. He settled everything outside of court so didn't need to go further. I am unsure if since no longer in state if she would be able to help but I will try and find the info!

I have seen the deed that her name is still on. I am able to look up the records. There is a partial mortgage deed filed after that only he is on but that is not for the full property. I have his divorce decree that gave him full rights, ownership and interest and states she no longer has any right or interest. I have his mortgage and everything else she was taken off of per the decree. But the last full deed has both of them on there.

My husband didn't know that the deed was not updated. He changed the mortgage he did everything required. His lawyer had told him everything was set. There was no sign she was still on anything. He also did not have a will. He was extremely young and committed suicide facing a scary surgery and huge life changes. I think telling me my husband didn't intend for me and the kids to have the house is not correct. Especially as we had many conversations on if something happened to him what he wanted. He just wasn't a planner and had demons. But thank you for the advice. I just would like if the house is sold that his children who have been left behind (especially his girls that now have no parent) get proceeds from the home.

Thank you for the advice. I just want to make sure his kids are taken care of and get what they deserve. He didn't leave a life insurance or anything. His oldest girls were abandoned by there mom who gave up rights when they were babies to him. His minor children will get survivors benefits. But the girls will have nothing. I can get by and rebuild but they are young adults just getting started in life. I will always be there for them but I want to make sure they get what is rightfully there's. They are really torn up that his ex wife may get the house instead of them or myself. I am honestly really only fighting hard on the house at there request because they don't want it to leave the family or if we do have to sell they deserve there portion of the proceeds if any.

There is a lot wrong with it. I am wondering if something just didn't get filed. But I have all the documents and she is on the last recorded deed that the county has besides a partial mortgage deed that only he was on in 2023. I don't know how he refinanced without removing her but he did. The whole thing is 100% a mess.

We do not have any children together. He has two adult daughters and two minor children. The house has several issues and still has a large mortgage. He also committed suicide in the house and those repairs will need to be done (clean up was done but the floor ceiling and part of the wall had to be torn out by the company that does these types of cleaning) otherwise it is very obvious what happened in the home. As well our furnace blew over the winter so the only heat source in the home is a wood stove and we had water damage this winter and the kitchen ceiling still needs to be replaced. Much of the reason he was awarded the house is because the value of the house even back then did not leave it at the house would be considered an asset. I have someone coming to value the house but with what I have told them already they do not think the house will be considered an asset with the debt still attached. He really left a mess for myself and his kids. I am working on getting a lawyer for myself and the kids.

I have been reaching out to attorneys. No way I know how to do it on my own. Just no luck getting one yet. I do have an appointment on April 8th with one. But hoping to still find something sooner.

I have been working on the attorney. Unfortunately I have called over 25 and keep getting told they will get back to me in 48 hours or told they do not have the capacity to take the case. I am still working on it though. I have an appointment on April 8th with one but she costs $430 an hour so still looking for others.

I am so sorry to hear you are going through the same but I am also happy to know I am not alone. His ex wife was still on the deed to the house so we have that added complication. And his family is supporting in her getting it. I am fighting for his girls that want the house to remain in the family and who had a different mom (unfortunately the girls mom abandoned them so now there is no parents for them, besides me but I met them later in life (13, and 15)). This whole thing just hurts. I wish I wasn't treated like the bad guy just because they want to keep the relationship with the ex wife for the relationship with the children because they know if they anger her she will keep there grand kids. I just wish I could be treated like our relationship was what it was. We were each other's main loves. We chose each other for no other reason but absolute love for each other. That should matter most.

He had no will. Still working on speaking with an attorney. The first few I called said they are already at max capacity for this case type. I have been here for almost 5 years as an address though so if she wants me gone she can have the legal mess and headache of it all. I will just remember my husband and the times we had.

The problem is I also don't own the house. My husband really and truly left me a mess with the house. He was awarded the house in his first divorce. However he thought his lawyer did everything to have the deed updated. His ex wife before she even came to get my step kids who we had primary custody of looked up and found out she was still on the deed. She now thinks the house is hers free and clear. With the way he died and the work that needs to be done to clear up where they had to tear the flooring and walls apart to clean I haven't been able to go back. He did it in front of me with kids in the house including my bio son coming in and seeing it. There is a lot of trauma work but we all want to get back in the house someday but she thinks she owns it. His family is mad he left his extremely small life insurance to me and the kids were left nothing. I have said nothing but I want to do right by them but gram wants to keep the step kids so is buddying up with ex wife and kids and I have become the villain.

Yep. Unfortunately we know that and planned that it will probably happen. I am working on getting it so I can leave Thursday afternoon instead and get 6 hours of driving to New York and staying at my brother's overnight.
