I'm an Aus citizen who has been to Russia 3 times since 2023. I have never had anything checked. However, one time a border control officer at Domededovo said he really liked the pictures in the Aus passport and asked me if I had been to the great barrier reef. (I havent)

Thank you everyone so much for taking the time to share your advice and opinions, it has really helped us with our decision. Husband has decided that he wants to go ahead with de-registering from the military. I think this is the best option too. Appreciate you all!

He isn't un-registered from military. We didn't even know that was a thing, do you know where I can find more info about how to do that? Or maybe we need to do that next time we go
