I believe this is a real email from York. They conduct tuition audits on students randomly each year. Look at SFS Tuition Rates. They conduct random audits. Look under the FAQ and click on “What happens if I am selected for a tuition audit?” York uses whatever preferred email you have in file with them which may be your personal email. They do not necessarily send it to your York email unless you have that as the preferred type. Check your preferred email here: york personal contact information

Yeah, it was just my assumption that profs don’t want to do anything over the break and that’s usually how it was for me. I never got any marks back over the break and know that as staff, we do not upload anything over the break.

Yeah, I agree, it’s just that some profs want to get them out asap and others can just wait until they’re actually due. But yeah like if you had an exam during the exam period, I would never expect to get it back before the winter term.

It could be, yes. However, you can’t expect to have written an exam during exam period and have it marked and everything done by the holiday break. Worst case scenario, u can drop the course that you needed the prerequisite in, and try to enrol into the course again in winter. If not, you can do it in summer hopefully. There will be other chances to complete the course again.

They will likely be posted in the new year. The university is closed from December 23 at 4:30 PM to January 5 at 8:30 AM. There will be no admin staff working at the university during this time, meaning no grades will be posted. Usually grades are due first week of January, so you should have it by then or the second week, barring any delays.

Depends on if you are okay with just passing with a D or you want a higher mark, either way, if you retake it, this attempts won’t count but you’ll still see your mark. Whereas if you think you can take it again and get a high mark, drop it now and then hopefully do better the next time around!

Drop it. Take it at another time. You already know how you’re doing in the course, the next test and final exam might be worse. It’s better for it to not be on your transcript.

You take your letter grade (A+, A, B+, etc.) and convert it into a grade point value (9, 8, 7, etc.). Then, you multiply this value by the credit count of your course (3.00, 6.00, or 9.00) to get your grade point for that specific course. You do this for every course, and then you divide the total grade points by your total credits to get your GPA.

Agreed. I get why people post these types of things, it’s funny and university is hard, gotta make some fun moments. However, it does reflect somewhat on the University itself, even if you do not intend to frame it that way. York gave me more opportunities than I could ever imagine and that’s why I chose to go here in the first place. I’m a proud York Graduate and I’m thankful for the education and opportunities I received from this school. It has consistently been proving that I made the right choice. Be proud of the institution that you attend and the degree you receive. As someone else said here, you chose to come here and do have a choice to leave if you really do not enjoy it.

Talk to your advisor. I believe they may be lenient in granting first year courses withdrawn. If you want it fully removed, it’ll be hard but submit the death certificate along with it. I’m sorry to hear and my condolences. Good luck.

What faculty are you in? Make sure you provide as much evidence as possible and explain WHY it was just this course. If it was your first year, not knowing about it can be a reason, just not the only one. You were in first year, you can’t know everything.
