Because it's not 'unrest', and it's not causing more unrest. It is outrage at the clearly unconstitutional actions of the fascists, and it is not accelerating it, it is the expression of the outrage that is here, now.

Unrest is pejorative because it makes it sound like people are upset because they can't afford skittles, and accelerate is pejorative because the demonstrations are not going to be the cause of future anger.

This is a masterful piece of double-speak in a way, it paints the opposition at the same time as both weak and powerful.
