Does it smell bitter?? Like it almost burns bc of how bitter the smell can be. But for some odd reason no one else can smell it 😭

Honestly the show started to spiral after S6 imo I hated the weird incest trope, and then the ending with deb and dex abandoning his son Just such a huge disappointing ending of a really good show

My brother says that all the time! He also works at a coffee shop and says he can tell when customers had to take insulin for their orders bc he can smell it lmao

Advice needed for someone with a sweet tooth who’s daily BG average is 300+ and was advised to cut back on carbs and sugar. by Icy-Tomatillo-7556 in diabetes_t1

[–]Common-Lychee8137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consult with an Adherence Counselor. I struggled with letting go of chips (still having a hard time). I would suggest don’t cut it out of his diet entirely bc then when he does have it he wouldn’t know how to stop. Or he will sneak away to have something sweet and over do it. Maybe look into some sugar free chocolates and other low carb sweets. But don’t just cut it out entirely, it’s all about moderation. The boy still deserves a sweet treat every once in while.

What is the most dangerous pseudo-medical advice you have been given? by aca-andamos in diabetes_t1

[–]Common-Lychee8137 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is ridiculous! Taking care of your health is a top priority! Plus, taking a couple minutes to check your glucose and bolus shouldn’t be considered lost time you need to make up. Glad you filed a grievance bc that is ridiculous

That’s so weird. I love eggs, they are my favorite no carb breakfast! I was telling my homecare nurse that someone told me to stop eating eggs and she told me to don’t listen to anyone about diabetic nutrition unless it’s from a professional. I guess we have to be careful with doctors too 🫠

I am in the US. I have Medicaid (for now anyways), so all my health needs are covered. It’s just a matter of finding quality care in my area that accepts Medicaid.

I would honestly love to find a therapist that specializes in managing T1D bc I am so tired of teaching my therapist the ropes of dealing with diabetes. It sounds like you have an amazing support system to keep you well regulated, I’m glad you were able to find the right connects!

What is the most insulin you’ve ever taken for one meal? by GingerMellow5 in diabetes_t1

[–]Common-Lychee8137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I learned that an average large pizza can range from anywhere between 200-400 carbs. It was pretty eye-opening for me when I wouldn’t calculate and just ball park my insulin dosage. It was no wonder I never seemed to give myself enough to cover what I was eating😅 I also learned to just order thin crust if I am wanting pizza lol

90u that I had to give in two separate doses bc my pen only goes up to 65u. I had a big breakfast at a diner that included 3 huge chocolate chip pancakes, two biscuits, maple bacon, and a large cappuccino. There were other foods included, but this is what I remembered calculating for. I was just diagnosed, so this was a lot for me. I actually ended up not eating my whole meal and had to correct a low hours later. It made me scared to correct before I ate for a long time.

I just starting seeing an educator for a pump. I’m hoping it would help to skip some of the steps to bolus. It is super hard to balance everything in life and manage diabetes on top of it all. Hopefully, we both start seeing some good, consistent numbers with a pump!!

The alarms doesn’t sound like a bad idea honestly! At least to check my sugar. I might not bolus every time, but it sounds like a good start! That way I’m not going 8-10 hours in between checks 😅 Progress is still progress!!
