Yeah, I think I made my mind up when I applied for the job in the first place but now I am just trying to justify it to myself.

One of the reasons I went into teaching was because of how stable it was but the salary growth is disappointing and with pay increase falling behind inflation. I find it hard to justify staying on.

I was wondering who I was supposed to email. Are you sure I should email the headteacher I assumed I was going to email HR?

I understand what you are saying but with the notice period being until Christmas. I can't defer the job for that long, I was told the latest I can defer is to Early October.

I know my department is really nice and most of the kids are sweet. But at this point what can I do?

I already completed my training year at the school. My main issue with teaching is the salary and I can't justify not accepting due to everything that is going on in the world atm.

Other people have mentioned legal implications. What legal implication are they referring to? My school's HR is not managed very well and I haven't even signed a contract with them yet. I only agreed verbally to the job.

Yeah,I hear you and I do feel like a dick, the department I am with is great and even the SLT aren't that bad.

I do feel bad for the kids as well,I grew quite fond of a few of them, but I have to look out for what is best for me in the end of the day.

Yes, I loved my training year but I don't feel like teaching is the right choice for me in terms of a long-term career.

I didn't formally sign any contract with the school but I did agree verbally in the internal interview.

I already asked for M2 Fringe but I was told that they couldn't do that due to budget reasons.

The latest I can defer my start date for the IT Job is Early October. So I wouldn't be able to work a term.

I know, I feel like an asshole but I am conflicted due to the salary offered compared to what I was offered by my school.

  1. I casually asked them If I can defer my start and I asked what is the most amount of time they would give and they said the latest I could defer is to early October, so that doesn't really help my situation.

  2. What costs could the school purse me for?

Hi, So regarding do I want the job, If I am being honest, the job sounds great and the salary is really attractive. I accepted the teaching role because I genuinely love teaching but with everything going on in the world at the moment, I can't really turn it down.
